oh the ones I listed are just my signature line sorry haha (that is my small collection)

thenextarcher - That is funny. I was trying to correlate your list to mine to figure out which ones were rare. I figured it must have been some special knowledge about the knives that I did not have. That is too funny. Thanks for clarifying. That will save me a lot of head scratching. Thanks.

You have a pretty good list of knives. If you are interested in selling #32, 37, or 38, send me a PM.

That is a very nice collection. There are some real gentleman on this forum who may be able to help out with that.
Such as: Punisher, Joe Karp, Who Dares Wins; just to name a few of the truly good folks.
Good luck with the task at hand.

Sorry for your loss. Please pardon this comment if it comes out wrong but I say with a collection such as that, if he has yet to be placed in his final resting place, he had good taste and should get to take them with him.

MikeAce- Thanks for listing those who may be of help...in addition to all who have already helped.

Jonadz - You made my wife and I laugh. I guess we are too late to take your suggestion. When we figure out what to do, I know he would want them in the hands of those who enjoyed them like he did. My wife is glad she got to get a special one that is not listed. That knife will mean more to her than any other and hopefully will stay in the family for generations. I had never seen his full collection until recently, so it is neat to learn about him through these.

I also am not much help with values, The easiest way to determine values for me has always been to check completed auctions on ebay and sold items on the forums. With a list like that it would be next to impossible though since there are so many and there really are a lot of quite rare ones there. right or wrong, what I would do is list them on ebay and then they can go for what they're worth. The main problem with that is that ebay is a ripoff and takes a large percentage of each sale.

I would mainly be careful of people sending you offers and hoping that since you don't know what you have they can get it for way under value. That being said, there are definitely some there I'd like to have if you end up listing them here after determining value

    #46 10510 Fecas

As posted previously, you can search Ebay, or Bladeforums.com for the model numbers to get you a rough value.

    A) Welcome to the forum! I wish you had found us under happier circumstances, though.

    B) I'm sure you have already received some PM offers to buy some of those knives. Most of the guys here will want them for their collection. Unfortunately,I know of a couple that will probably just buy them to flip them on eBay, so don't accept a lowball offer.

    C) There are some guys who will be able to recite info about some of those knives in their sleep. Unfortunately, value/price is a fluid thing as scarcity of the model, the economy, etc. will affect it. For example: the Benchmade 5W Rescue Hook is still being sold and is currently going for $15-25 on eBay. On the other hand, knives like the 730 Ares series, the 940/941 series and maybe the 960 series will go upwards of $200+ by my estimation (which decidedly isn't the greatest). A recent limited run of the 730 with CF handles and M390 steel sold retail for ~$200 and is occasionally on eBay for $275 and more, so the 730/732 knives in your collection would be worth at least that since the 730 series is discontinued, as is the 960.

Glad to hear there's at least one that will stay in the family. Which one, if you don't me asking?

You could also just keep them and make the collection your own. Oh, and when you comment that you got a collection -- pics are mandatory!

d_clark - 39 and 40 were on his list but not found in his collection, so I am presuming he sold them as I know he would sell some from time to time. He must have forgotten to update the sheet. 39 was a 941TI-01 323/500 Anodized. 40 was a 941TI-01 Prototype. Also, thanks for your thoughts on the values. I appreciate it. It is great to get input from others on this. I am impressed with the respones both public and PM.

pascal.abi - If my father in law was on this forum, I do not know his member ID and niether does his wife. He was from the Albuquerque, NM area and his last name was Kinney. If anyone knows his ID, we would love to see his postings.

different - thanks for the words of caution. I am trying to do my best to find resources to find values.

TO THOSE WHO ARE INTERESTED IN POSSIBLE PURCHASES
I am fairly certain some of this collection will be sold as my Mother-in-law wishes. If you have an interest in certain ones, please PM me you email address so I can make notes about who may be interested and in which ones. I have already had some PM's come through. Thanks so much

looneybin - I would love to keep the collection or even a large piece of it. It is not up to me, though and if I can help my mother-In-Law, I want to. I know some family and friends are interested in buying a few as memory pieces. My wife got a 960-08 prototype with a Damascus blade. It is very pretty and her dad was very proud of the Damascus blade and she remembers his excitement with it, so for her it is a neat memory. Thanks too for the words of caution as well as your ideas about values. I will try to post some pics if i get some time. There are a lot to go through, so I will have to get some time. Thanks.

Looking over this list really makes me wonder.....who haven't we heard from lately? This isn't just a collection.... It's a COLLECTION! Who ever had these had to have been around here at some point in time?

Prototypes and concept will almost always be worth 50% more. Depends on the knife and demand for it. But I would hold out for the best price. It can't hurt to wait.

I would put the value a bit higher than that on the 730's. as others have said, most of these knives are pretty rare, so it's next to impossible to figure out an accurate value without auctioning them.

It would be interesting to know if this collection owner was someone we knew. Although, if he used some made-up name on the forum like fastjan, his family might not even know it. My wife has never heard the name fastjan. If my real name was posted, probably a bunch of you could figure out who I was.

    It's weird to think about...
