Opened a box last night that I thought contained old papers, instead found some friends I hadn't seen in a while.0 -
Now THAT's a REALLY nice find...

Really like the 780...You have two of them?
Not many of them made. Maybe 200.0 -
I do have two. I posted photos and the story right here in '04. One of them even has the letter Benchmade sent along with each shipment to the dealers, basically saying "We're really sorry, but this is all you get."
It's a really cool design. Bummer the MIM scales didn't work out.0 -
Wow! That's a great 780
Impressive knives to have found.
What model is that 940/942? It appears to have S30V and the CF. I thought all the CF handled ones had D2 blades, but I only found out about the model after all the LE runs had been made already and were out of production for years. Beautiful knives, thanks for sharing!0 -
940s-701 I think... I only became aware of them like last week when I saw one pop up on ebay. 0 -

IIRC Less then 150 were made with "First Production" print on the blade, about 50 marked "Prototype", and less then 10 had regular blades without any additional etching (I have one of those).

Carson, DeathOfAllThings is correct. It's a 940S-701, which was a run of 200 made for (and sold only through) REI. It's got about three years of carry wear on it as well. The weight (or lack thereof, really) is fabulous. Mine weighs 2.4 ounces (68 grams) which is half an ounce less than the standard 940. I really like it.0 -

+1 (but it was serrated so I let him go)am sure TDOGG got it.0 -
I'll have to be content with my 941D2CF. If I spot a 940S-701, I'll have to make a run at it Yours looks well-loved and used. Nice knives!

Hey Tony(APBT) you should have the theme from 2001 A Space Odessey to go with those photos.

Joe, is that an M390 710? They're great knives, aren't they? I think every 710 fan should have one of those...and use it.
0 -
Yeah FJ, it's the 710-1 in M390. It will get used eventually, soon as I stop looking at it...
