581 Is Here PICTURES
Well i just got my new Benchmade 581 Non Serrated and Non Coated blade in and i LOVE this knife.
The Blade geometry i really like as well as the groves cut into the aluminum. Does anyone know the clear coating they have on the blade?
I am looking forward to seeing how well M390 performs overall.

I do like that blade 0 -
Nice, how is the balance in hand? Do the AL grips in front add too much forward weight? 0 -
The knife balances out very well.

I thought the M390 was a stainless...I dont think it is coated..Ill ck the BM steels page to be sure. I heard its a good steel but I havent carried my 581s 0 -
The 581 is one of my all time favourite BM knives. Everything about it is WIN!
Personally, I love the way the solid G10 and Al scales/bolsters give it a much more solid feel than the plastic barrage scales, and moves the balance point further back into the hand. To me it greatly improves the feel of the knife.
I traded mine off this last fall, but ended up regreting it terribly so had to pick up another to replace it.
M390 is indeed stainless, and is roughly equivalent to M4, but without the risk of rust. AFAIK, the finish is a basic satin finish, no coating what-so-ever.
Interesting that yours has the bright thumb studs though. My first one did too, but the second one I picked up has Black studs. The clip on my current one is too, more of a oil blued finish rather than the original black oxide split arrow...
Hmm, sounds like the perfect excuse to post up yet another pic

Yeah, I know. I have not seen another like it before, nor one since. Certainly would like to see more of them out there.
And I'll say a collective thanks Ryan. I won't speak for the others, but it is my pleasure

The AL bolster almost weight nothing.
IMHO the 581 is one of the most underappreciated knives i know. I feels very comfortable and solid in hand.0 -

The bolster on one side is hollow and contains the spring, I don't know if the other bolster is hollow or not. I've seen vids on youtube showing how to disassemble the 581 and take out the spring, you might be able to tell from the video what the insides of the bolsters look like.0 -
this looks almost too fancy...what do you think? i have a volli coming and ill do a thread with pics as soon as it arrives. first new knife in years! 0 -

I think that 581 is still leaps and bounds above the Volli.

Awesome knife.. I don't own one but I bought one for a family member last year and they love it. Your guys pics make me want one now lol, that M390 looks damn sharp

Oh the M390 is sharp. I did a test on my arm and it cut really well and i have already been cut accidentally by it a couple times.

That's a good looking knife, I have the 580 but that one looks quite nice 0
