How to remove lasermarking

Polish is merely an abrasive paste that is finer than the finest s'paper-- use s'paper. The etching is INTO the blade faces, not just on them. I've had a couple done and the depth varies-- you see that on LEs as well where one has bolder, more visible etching than the next one. Easily sanded (done it a couple times) but bear in mind you are sanding e'thing, not just the etch. Plus, under coated blade etchings you will (likely to your dismay) discover the original grind lines, invisible under the coating. Once you start, you'll need to take it all the way to bare metal.

    Easily done, just takes time.

What he said in the above post but why ?

You're also removing the the BM label.

I have done a few projects putting hand satin finishes on Benchmade knives. It is a lot of work. Well worth the money just to send it in and have the blade replace ($25 + S&H), or order a D2 Custom grip and swap and sell. That's what I'm doing...

I agree w/ Po. Unless you enjoy this kind of work (I do) it really isn't worth the time. EZ yes, but time-consuming-- plus the cost of paper.

I would just swap, but I doubt anyone would want a regular grip handle with the Camp Perry marked up blade. Maybe I'll just duracoat... I really don't care about the BM logo or anything else, rather have the annoying other markings off. Appreciate the responses!

Will do. Have a special duracoat project in the works for the bone collector blade

what do y'all think would be easier to sell, the camp perry stock blade in a regular grip hane or the camp perry blade duracoated gray in the stock grip handle?

I'd be interested also in how the Duracoat works out. The mini BC is my favorite BM, and my EDC, but all that jibber jabber on the blade makes me crazy.

I thought about acid etching per folks' instructions on YouTube, but I think it will simply lessen the visibility of the markings and not sterilize it altogether.

Any thoughts on that from anyone? Thanks all.

    Prof.

Better to sand if you know how, the trouble I have with that is once I start, it takes a lot to make me happy with it.
