806-901?
Ok, so a few years ago I was lucky enough to be able to score an 806sbk-901. Beautiful knife! It quickly found its way into my pocket and became my EDC. Now I was working and in a stroke of genius decided to probe an electrical box with the blade to see how deep the box was. Of course the blade arced out on the switch in the box leaving a nasty gouge on the blade. I then called BM customer service and set up the repair. I was lucky enough to be able to have them change the blade to a plain edge at a cost of $20+s&h. Got the knife back and couldn't have been happier with the new blade. The new blade is m4 steel still but it doesn't have all the obnoxious markings and #'s on it like the original. It is just marked like a normal BM. The knife is a user but I tend to maintain it pretty well and aside from that stupid move with the electric box I don't abuse it. My question is this, the knife started as 806SBK-901 #221 of 250. Now I guess it would be 806BK-901 251 of 250?!?! What does this do to the value? Would all these things increase the value or make it go the other way and decrease the value. I mean as far as I know it is the only 806-901 that does not have all the markings on the m4 blade. All that is printed on it is the butterfly on one side and the CPM-M4 BK on the other. Anyone who has any info on this it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Billy

You may have the box showing #221/250, but the knife is no longer #221/250, it's just an 806-901 w/ a replacement M4 blade. You're using it anyway-- as a user, I would say it gained a BIT of value, just by getting rid of the combo edge-- R.
If you're thinking there's some rarity value cuz the blade is unnumbered, think again....0 -
Here's the cold hard truth of it...but it's just one guy's opinion:
If I was selling it, I'd ask $200 if it still looks good, otherwise reduce as necessary.
If it was in the same condition, but had the combo blade, I'd figure it was worth $175 at the most. Keep in mind though that I usually price knives so that they sell in one day. Others might squeeze out another $25 by letting em sit on the forum for longer.
Word to the wise: If you want your knife to sell fast, include pictures...even if it is NIB. Also, if the blade is perfectly centered, say so. Don't worry about a picture of the centering because they can be deceptive depending on the photo angle. If its centered...just say so. If its not, then tell us how badly its not centered. All of that will speed up your sale.0 -
I wouldn't worry about resale value. You're not going to live long enough to sell it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not interested in selling it. Like I said it has a well worn place in my pocket. Just curious is all. Oddly enough when that happened I didn't even get bit by the current. I'll tell you this much if I'm not dead already then I'm stuck here for the long haul! Much to some peoples dismay! Anyway, thanks for the info guys. 0 -
The 806-901 is a great knife. Good luck with it. 0
