    Patrick, if you still have one of these Leupold Ares and the painted idea bothers you, don't take anybody's word about the paint. Just remove one of the handle scales and hit the underside of it with a dremel tool. You'll know pretty quick if its painted or not and the test won't hurt the knife at all.

    Just out of curiosity, I'd like to know what the results are. I bought 6 or 8 of these, but over the years, I've sold them all off. They'd make a great work knife...especially if a guy could lightly sand some of the sharp edges just so they're a little more comfy in the hand.

    Hey Fast. All gone, sorry to say. I should of held on to one of each. All sold right here.

    Totally agree w/ whar your saying, make a great work knife as well as its collector coolness. I know at least one of the takers acquired as a second for use. I prefer the G-10 version.

    1500 piece run on one, 500 on the other, if I remember correct.
