If we all learn Russian, I wonder if they'd start releasing LE Ares' in non-boring colors....

Ugh. I give up. Maybe it's time to sell off my Ares collection and stick to buying guns. This is bordering on ridiculous.

20 min ago I was saying to Anatoly exactly the same! I am almost ready to declare my Ares collection status as "till 2013"

I do recollect posting that my dream Ares would be a tan scales version that wasn't painted like the Leupold sand Ares. I just wish it came at a better time financially. New baby coming and Christmastime and the 1302 will force this 1303 to the back burner. Maybe someday I'll snatch one on eBay for double the msrp.

I'll have one for the missus for xmas, she likes Hello Kitty.

But on a more serious note, I only got into BM knives recently, and I like the look of the Ares that people have posted. However, and correct me if I'm wrong, the Ares has been discontinued as a stock item in the BM range? So the only way I can get a new one if a special edition?

Where do I find this tan model? Is that a screenshot from a dealer login on the BM site? I can't see it on the KW website.

    Regards,

    Rob.

Read the specs.. it's going to be sent free of charge for each $2500 worth of order placed to Benchmade between Nov 25 and Dec 13. A dealer would have to place a very large order to get more than a couple of them.

The Ares has been discontinued as a regular model, so it will indeed be only available "new" via special editions. The tan model will be one you contact your favorite dealer about and see if you can get theirs. Otherwise, keep an eagle eye on Knifeworks/GP/Newgraham/etc. and watch eBay.

They're making 300 of them with an MSRP of $220. Expect the price to be $180-230 is my guess if you can find one. Once they're secondary market, I expect there will be a lot of $300 asks if the people who get them turn loose at all. In the event they don't get rid of all 300 of them by Dec 13, my money is on knifeworks to get the remainder by paying for them outright. I have no basis for this and it's simply a guess on my part.

Good luck in your quest to get a new one.

They've gone and pushed the Ares fans to the edge, in the immortal words of Popeye, they've stood all they can stands, and they can't stands no more. Hahahaha!

Hey, if having a complete collection of Benchmade Ares was easy, everyone would be doing it.

    Classic mhasman!

PS - does my discerning eye detect clear cerakote?

No its a purse. You know, like the thing your wife carries your testis in. And what does a lady named Gina that lives in Virginia have to do with it?

Since I opted out of the Russian deal I can use those funds for one of these.
Although I've already gone over my knife budget this month.
