Is baiting, "Hunting"
First, I'm not a hunter. I've been hunting for black bear and deer. Black Powder and Bow and have been on a few bird/duck hunts. Ground/stalk and blind/stand are my only experience and all only in CO, NY and PA. But, it's not something I grew up doing although I believe in it and have wanted to do more of.
I understand eco-management, the advantages of being able to "select" a specific animal within a distance that would increase the chance of a clean, humane kill. Handicapped/disability, elderly, youth topographical and or regional limitations. And being able to put meat on the table vs trophy
I also understand spoiled/toxic bait, the potential for changing natural patterns/behavior of the animals and the perceived breech of "fair chase".
I've found deer on property I own in PA w/ just the backs straps taken. I do not suggest baiting is irresponsible if done within jurisdiction law.
But baiting and the increase of the private "preserves" which are more like farms. Timed feeders, big dollars.." you can't take that one...only that one or that one" Again, I get heard and the bigger eco management. Just seems more like trophy shopping that trophy hunting.
After seeing your latest pics and set up, Marty..you look pretty responsibly..and it's not for me to judge, or on the ethics of it all..
But 25 meter from a barrel chained to tree w/ a .5 ton of corn dump? C'mon, brother..hunting? Harvesting yes.

Nate. Your silence on this speaks volumes to your character and to the issues, specific. Your ability to ignore and carry on is amazing to me, commendable perhaps. But, nothing I understand or would be capable of myself...Maybe its maturity..narrow spine, is how I see it. It is certainly your MO, regardless.
So, Just to be clear and put a fine point on it, in the case you are still having trouble figuring this...I had been considering calling you out for some time. I wanted to do it in the open and couldn't resist the irony of baiting you w/ the topic "Baiting".
I got lucky w/ you offering a debate, really. But, I figured, perfect..I could drag you to the town square (had to be by your ear, but..) w/ theater and a little spectacle.. to get eyes on. I figured I could at least spin you around and get you stuck in a corner like a cheap, battery powered toy. And there was the chance of you making me look stupid or wrong...or both. None of that mattered..the fear of looking stupid or potentially being wrong has never been enough to stop be from doing something.
When it was over, I was gonna call you out. Understand. Ive had skirmishes over personality's w/ members or w/ the troll of the month. I wrongfully gave one member grief over some very petty and trivial stuff..Thats the only one I wish I could take back.
That is not what this is.
You have taken advantage of a number of members in various degrees. In one case, a high probability of fraud, for hundreds of dollars. I know of four members, myself included, who refuse to deal w/ you anymore. If you'd like to hash out any of those specifics, I will type out every ugly, lousy word, right here in open post.. at the expense of those that would rather not be involved. And, if you think thats an empty threat..or a bluff..you go ahead and chase me...see what happens.
I think you are a detriment and potential risk in a place that I care about. You have burned through at least four members in your time hear. Thats more than one member per year. Those numbers arent working for me. If this was just an isolated incident or you were some stranger..a member that only is here for buy/sell...would be a different issue. But the numbers suggest a pattern of issue, not an anomaly. You're a highly active member both in posts and dealings..who represents something very different in the open vs in private. But w/ story after story.. of the same or similar behavior, from member after member..I feel I must offer a caution or at least make aware any who would deal w/ you.. of your character, hypocrisy and risk potential..
Again, Im not here because of your personality, thin spine or thick skull, not really. Im not here to embarrass you..not really. Not even looking for an excuse, defense or debate. I dont need it..I know who you are. Beyond the fact that you did a couple of my friends dirty, its to the bigger picture of a fair warning to the community. Im sure you do lots of deals w/ out issue.
I didnt go chase this information down. It came to me natural, from members w/ whom I converse w/ outside the forum..and one by happenstance. Im not going to follow and harass you, Nate..you go right ahead and carry on, have at it.
Your high activity and level of hypocrisy as to what you represent warranted more than just post in "Bad Deals"0 -
/|\ Patrick,
I’m here for two reasons:
1) education (learn more about knives & their maintenance)
2) fun & entrainment
And you my friend never fail to provide on both points.

Regarding baiting for hunting practices, I don't really have much of an opinion. I think the important thing if you decide to take an animals life is to make it as quick and painless as possible. I had a coworker that used to go bear hunting in northern California and their hunt consisted of using dogs to tree a bear and then shooting it out of the tree with a 9mm, often requiring several shots to drop it. I didn't really see the fun in that and imagine the final minutes of that bears life were terrifying.
Regarding the other matter that has transpired, I would like to say that I have bought from, and sold knives to both Patrick and Mac, and have never had anything less than perfect dealings. I consider both of you to be forum brothers and friends in the knife community.
Regarding Hooters, I hear they have some delicious items that aren't on the menu.0 -

Forget that just use your benchmade to whittle a fishing spear or better yet just use your bare hands.
