    Outstanding, Marty, thank you!

I'm interested to see about the weight of these. It would be a shame if they made the knife really handle heavy. I've seen pics of the inside of the scales, and they are hollowed out similarly to the grivory stock scales, so should be pretty light.

The 535GRY looks great with the blasted Ti...think I'm going to put mine on a satin blade though. When I get mine put together, probably late next week, I'll post pics here.

I believe that his only current Benchmade scales are for the 535, yes.
Although, I can tell you (but I shouldn’t) that he also makes similarly designed scales for some Spyderco off-branded knives. I’ve seen him do the Paramilitary 3 & Manix 2, and those had a few different milling patterns than what I showed from his Bugout work.

Hey, Internet commerce is running at high speed this week. Both knife and scales arrived today.

My first impression of the scales was that they are really thin, but a close comparison with the stock scales shows they are almost identical in thickness. They are very lightweight. Based on Marty's pic, the Ti scales are about a half ounce heavier than the Grivory scales, which is still hardly anything. My Rockscales knife is very close in weight to my G-10 Keymaster handle.

Seems like the scales are precisely made. Everything fit together perfectly, and I was able to adjust out almost all side play in the pivot and still have free swing.

Knife feels very solid now, of course. I like the looks. Custom knife for less than $250. The Critter pattern is nice, and rather subtle. Gives some increased traction without feeling rough at all. Happy, happy!

Awwww man, that’s great to hear.
    Glad you’re content.
I had to recommend Rockscale Designs based solely on great pricing for Ti and some stellar word of mouth reviews from a few friends. Plus the fact that these 535 Ti scales are so lightweight.

    That’s it...

I’m officially ready to Bug Out now.
Thanks for sharing with us, Po.

If you haven't seen the Rogue Bladeworks Ti bugout scales yet they are pretty amazing as well. I am on their list for the first production run. The Rock scales guy did spyderco until he followed the RBW Instagram and saw they were making Ti and got his inspiration

Anyone know how easy the gray blasted titanium scales scratch? (Sorry for late question)

I don't know about those scales in particular, but titanium will scratch

Cool thing about raw titanium is you can bead blast it to renew the surface and remove the snail trails.  I prefer the worn look personally.

Rockscale Design is still doing great things.

Titanium scales for the 940-1 & 940-2 are in the works.  Shown below are Matt’s Ti “Mollusk” scales.

I’ll be able to share more accurate info when I pick up a set (yes, that means I need to buy a 940 again).   As of right now, these haven’t been released for sale yet.

I’ll update you guys with details regarding weight and pricing as soon as I know.

If you are getting black, you might as well get the M390.  Of course the red thumb studs would look ridiculous, so that means you have to get someone to trade or you have to buy a regular black one just for the thumb studs.

If the wife is going to be pissed anyway, you might as well go for broke!

FYI, Rockscale’s 940-2 prototype from a few months back is said to weigh in at 3.1oz.  Unsure if this will change for official release.  Pricing will be announced upon release as well, so we’ll have to wait a bit longer.

    I always do!

Especially considering hair, nails, pedicures, going out with the girls and all the other crap she spends on. lol

Mac that 3.2oz weight is that weight of handles alone or when attached to the knife? Thanks

Guessing, but I’ve got to believe that the 3.1oz accounts for the total weight of the scales, blade and hardware.  If you consider that Rockscale Design took the stock 535 Bugout from 1.85oz to 2.45oz with the addition of Ti, I’d say that taking a stock 940-2 from 2.65oz to 3.1oz is totally plausible.  Again, just my 2 cents.

I’ll confirm exact details as they come available.  Shouldn’t be much longer.  Word has it that the website is scheduled to re-open for business on Friday, February 22and, as Matt is currently preparing orders ahead of time in hopes of ensuring fast deliveries.

/|\ Thanks for pics Mac. That’s a $267 940-1 you used as a doner Knife.

Do they have kits for standard 940?

Lastly can you post contact info where to buy them.

    Thanks again
