I got the knife today and the scales are a joke. I returned them same day i got them.

The set I had made for my Ares had some similar issues. The scales were short to the liners almost all the way around and it too was missing the chamfer around the axis lock. I kept mine but there are at least a couple of guys on this forum who could do a lot better IMO.

Not making any excuses for Cuscadi, but I've had only good experiences with Luke and Cuscadi.

I have one set of Cuscadi handles. They arrived not matching the liners, but since the 710 had uncoated liners, and because the handles were left oversized, I was able to sand them to a perfect match in about 30 minutes.
My handle scales were also far too thick, making it hard to grasp the Axis buttons. That fix took longer. I laid a sheet of coarse sandpaper on a table top and started sliding the under side of the scales on the paper to thin them out. I kept a rough stroke count so I could do both scales the same. At 1,000 strokes per handle scale, the G-10 was down to an acceptable thickness.0 -

Yes, it is unacceptable. I bought the handles second hand, so it was easier to fix them myself than try my luck at sending them in. Yes, they were off on that one. If you have access to a stationary disk sander, you could probably remove the blade and pivot screw and sand the liners down until they match the handle scales. It's not ideal, but it would be a fix. Of course, after that, factory handles won't fit anymore.
It also looks like the handle scales were left way too thick since the Axis buttons aren't sticking out enough for a dependable grasp. I'm sure you could thin them down using the method I described in a previous post. Be sure to wear the right mask or respirator when sanding CF...I understand that it's quite toxic.0 -

That's because the area around the axis lock is usually set in a bit on an Ares... you would likely get too close to the omega spring cutout if you thinned it down much.
I have a couple of sets of Cuscadi scales for Griptilians, which are very nice, but they wouldn't have the same issues, since they don't have exposed liners.0 -

Yup, it is set in.
But, it can be done.
I've only done a couple Ares but I haven't had to do anything special around the lock.
Well, except for thinning the scale a bit more that is.

While we're complaining about cuscadi... this was a set of mini grip scales from them. It's one of the reasons I decided to start making my own, I felt I could definitely do better.
Not to mention the knife didn't function correctly because the area cut out for the liners was not done so correctly and made the 2 liners sit angled toward eachother. This made it impossible for the axis bar to move back and not get stuck. So I had to fix the milling inside it, which is no easy feat when the outside of the scales are no longer flat. When I finally got that worked out and working right, I attempted to fix that gaping area around the pivot. Using a mixture of clear epoxy and carbon fiber dust, I filled the hole and remachined it. It's pretty well camouflaged now.0 -

That's really unfortunate that they are so inconsistent. I would be pissed to say the least, especially with the hassle of ordering through their process. Good work on the fix, no easy task indeed. Looks perfect now

Luke is a very nice guy at Cuscadi..the 550 and 940 scales I have are incredibly well done. He will fix any problem quick.

This is kind of making me nervous as I have 2 sets coming from Cuscadi. All for Mini Grips, I guess if I am disappointed I will still have KM and DOAT's carbon fiber grips.
