    Dang Neuro, envy envy. A PE 975 (very hard to find) it's a beauty. Looks like threaded inserts for the G-10 scale screws were added at some point, good move. Thanks for the pics!

    It's older AF ED edition 300mm.

    Nice, I've heard some very good things about that lens.

    I had the next generation 300 F4 AF-s. The glass was absolutely beautiful, but the tripod mount sucked big time - too flimsy. It was a big pain in the rear setting up the shots and acounting for the bounce in the mount, but when I got it right it was a thing of beauty.

    I should look to see if I can find one like you have there to replace it...
