while it doesn't get any pocket time, still one of my favourites...
As good as the new knives are, I gotta admit that the old classics are still my favorites0 -

Those are all me.

I'll take 'em.
Make another set in the Blue twill without the holes and PM me when you are ready to ship.

Very nice Keyman. What is the material? Can you make these to fit a regular Grip?
What I like about them is they are flat and make the knife thinner. The pattern in blue is just awesome. Does it come in red?0 -
I think he rit dyed the silver twill blue. Yes? 0 -
Thanks Lightning.quote:Originally posted by Lightning:

It's called blue silver twill. The material is too thin to be used on a Grip. These actually make the 710 just slightly thicker than the original. Sorry, I have not found a red version.
That would be cool though.0 -

Probably the closest you are going to find is Red CF/Kevlar. Stuff is PRICEY though...0 -
The Cloth itself is relatively cheap, but sheets are hard to find and spendy.
You'd probably have better success buying the cloth and epoxy yourself and making the sheets in the thickness you want.
All you would need to get for tooling is a cheap-ish vacuum bagging kit.
Might seem a rather pricey way to go, but once you have the stuff then you could take the next step in custom handles and start making custom molded handles.
Once you got a good mold, then the sky is the limit with colours. Plus, you could make a run of a particular style and have a few sets on hand to sell. Or you can easy accommodate requests for unusual colour combinations...0 -

If I end up buying a 710 it's your fault!
You know a set of scales are hot when you have to buy the knife to go with em.0 -
New scales thanks to the great work of Keyman!

I do.
Did you have to drill and tap the liner for the clip (nice clip btw)?
The set I have are untapped for a clip and have been debating whether I should do something about that.0 -

Same here. I wish I had the tools to do it. I have a tap for 2-56 screws, but I don't have a drill press that can drill through Ti on slow speed.0 -

All of these liners were not drilled for clip screws. It takes a no. 50 drill bit and a 2-56 tap.0 -
Neuro, thanks for the info on the #50 drill bit and 2-56 tap. I guess I just go to a screw supply house and buy some short torx 2-56 screws...right? 0 -

No, you call Bemchmade and ask for the clip & screws for a 800 AFCK, silly...

yay, finally replaced the 581 that have been missing for the last few weeks.
Traded it off a while back and have been missing it since.
Noticed a couple of distinct differences between this one and my previous.

The first being the thumb studs are black instead of a matte silver
and the clip is unusual too. My previous 581 had the standard black oxide split arrow, but this does have a black split arrow, but not in the normal oxide finish. Is more like an Oil Blued type finish. Never seen a clip quite like this before.0 -
