Stonewashed M390 Ritter Griptilians
I think we are ready for these. What do you think?

Please Mr. Ritter (Critter), make it happen! I would have to get a couple just for the M390 alone.

Other improvements would be nice but by no means a deal breaker. Make them and we will buy them!0 -

I totally agree ...... if you build it , they will come ...LOL0 -
Bump and a pretty please for an M390 ritter grip. 0 -
M390 in a grip (either normal or mini) would likely be enough to push me over the edge to pick one up...
0 -
Historically, when a run of LE Ritter Grips has been done (M2 & M4 for example); they have offered them in both sizes.

And Doug, please make at least a few Mk3 fixed blades of awesome. Just send me a couple of Prototypes and call it good.

I'm still waiting on these Mr. Ritter!
Did I mention I will be buying one of each size in matching numbers? You know, to go with my M2 & M4 matching sets!
Did I say please?

You win

wow, you gave up pretty easily..
Of course my getting two matched sets is assuming that these have some g10 scales. If they have regular handles I'm only getting one set so you might win after all..0 -
oh, well, if they come with G10, I'll take two sets too... 0 -
Then I'll get two sets and raise you a heliocopter! 0 -

A heliocopter? how am I supposed to beat that?0 -
Wow, this is weird, I just came here to start a thread on this very same thing!
It goes without saying, I'm VERY in for this, should it ever happen... How can we make it happen?

Every time I log in I see new posts in this thread and I get excited. So if the Ritter grips get the go ahead for an update, when would we likely get to buy one? Just curious. 2013? Regardless I still love the S30 ritters I carry. 0 -

It's hard to say... someone said earlier in this thread that he had talked to Doug Ritter and had a feeling something like this is already in the works, but they have a policy of not discussing anything until it's a done deal. If that's true, they could come out anytime, but if it isn't already in the works I really doubt we would see anything this year.0 -
G-10 and M390 would be an amazing combo with this knife, even if it was a LE it would be a hot seller. 0 -
Man, I sure hope its this year! WOOHOOO!!! quote:Originally posted by something:quote:Originally posted by jtoler_9:

I'd love a new one.
The still think the Ritter grips are the best value in a folder anyplace.0 -
It sure would be nice if these came out this year.. like next week would work. 0 -
I'm with the Trailboss on the Wilkins price being BS. I mean they catch my eye every time, but he is gouging us good on them. We need a US maker to start kicking them out.
APBT's link took 10 minutes to load!
Just add color G10 and SWM390 to the custom options.
I put the SWS30V in my CF grip and I love it.
I'd buy a green G10 and SWM390 unit in a heartbeat.
Great thread guys.0 -

No idea how this works out in the shop, but if they've already made CF scales, can it be hard to now make a G-10 run? they already know how to do it, it's just a question of using different material, right? Again, I have no idea.
Put simply, I find this to be true. The cost of simply switching materials; would be way more cost effective and profitable than a whole new design change and set up.
I like Wilkins scales, they definitely do change the knife, no doubt. I feel the quality of his machine work is close to; if not equal to Benchmade standards. However, I don't like the fact that they also make my knife bigger, much bigger and slightly longer too. I think they could be streamlined in many ways. I'm not so crazy 'bout the extended back spacer either. What's with that anyway? I too think they are over priced.
Benchmades design is more pocket friendly, more contoured, less "boxy"(if that's a word?) and lighter.
Of the two choices given, the original design is my preference.
But, not in plastic.
Giving a couple choices on scale material would be a sure home run for BM. I don't care which materials they might choose. CF, Micarta - paper, linen or canvas; any kind of stabilized material or just their current G10 stuff.
I have not tried any of Cuscudi's scales. But, they look pretty good and cost less than Wilkins. Though, I do think they've gone up a bit in price from when I originally heard about them. Not much though.
All in all, I would pay more for a Ritter with some kind of alternative material stock scales.
Please?

I think about it this way; I've owned at least three Ritters over time and the reason I gave each away was because of the scales, and not due to the blade.
CF is expensive, as is Micarta. G-10 in black and the current favorite color orange, would allow me to finally buy and keep one.
That's all it would take.
Make the scales a little thinner in the pocket, have the blade be M4 or M390...S30V is great steel, but is a little passe compared to the latest offerings.0 -
Wilkins scales are certainly nice and well made, but I agree that they are a bit over priced. I have a couple of sets of Cuscadi's and they are pretty close to the same shape as the original scales and very well made. Even though Cuscadi's are a lot cheaper than Wilkins they are still kind of pricey, considering they cost about as much as something similar made by Benchmade would... except Benchmade would give you a whole knife for that price.
Wilkins scales really do change the look and feel of whole knife. I like both designs, but I notice I carry my Cuscadi's a lot more. I don't really care for the raised spacer either... I have no idea what the reason is supposed to be for that...0 -
Well the wilkins scales are obviously CNC'd... so if wilkins doesn't own the mill he's doing them on, like if it's a mill where he works a full time job. You have to assume he has to take down whatever is set up on the work mill... set up his jig for scales, change tools around, touch everything off. Run program, flip it, run program, debur them, beed blast or tumble them. Then when he's all done that... has to reset up the set up that was in there for work so business can continue in the morning. That really does add up to a lot of time. So take the time he puts into them... at his standard day job pay... perhaps even time and a half because why make these if you could make more money working over time at work.
So it's hard to decide what is expensive when comparing someone who operates like that... compared to someplace with tons of workers and machines machining them 24/7 like benchmade.0 -

Can you imagine how much more expensive is a life there in Europe, compared to US?0 -
Yeah, I know Wilkin's cost to make them is obviously a lot higher than somewhere like Benchmade. I didn't mean that he's necessarily over charging for them, but that they are expensive for what you end up with. A Ritter with Wilkins grips costs close to what Benchmade sold the 551 gold class for.
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate that he at least provides us with an option, and I do own a set.0 -

I can. I've been there. I'd go broke there in a few months. How do you guys do it?
