615 Mini Rukus
I kind of just wanted to know what everyone's thoughts on the 615 are. To me, never having handled one, it appears to be the perfect sort of cross between the 730 and 520, a serious workhorse with a good amount of class, too. I know they sell now for $200+ new; when were they disco'd? And does anyone know about a possibility for a sprint run, or when the last one was?

I haven't heard of any sprint runs coming up, although I'd love an M390 sprint of the 615, the only other variations I know of are the assisted axis lock blue/black g10 with 154cm which was a blade show sprint I think. Also there is the HD non-comformist which is basically a auto version of the 615 that is currently in production. http://www.benchmade.com/products/13800 0 -

OK. Lemme explain. Basically the (thin) clip has too much flex to it and is a design flaw that was never fixed. I owned one and (sold it) as it was the only BKC model that didn't stay put in my pocket.
Aside from that detail you have a great knife in every other way. If I owned another I would carry it willingly in a belt pouch clipless.0 -
There are replacement clips available for the 610 and 615 from a 3rd party website. I believe a link was posted on another thread here referring to the issue.
Didn't Blueram shave a bit off of a skirmish clip and it fit fine? I think so.
I have never had issues with my 610 staying in my pocket and that could be because it is so massive...maybe Joe stands on his head a lot (shrug)0 -

Joe has explained it in a nutshell and very well I might add, Benchmade did do some Stronger Replacement Clips, but I think they are all gone now.
I was never a fan of the 615 until I was offered a NIB 610 Prototype and I then picked up a 615SBK-1 (Black and Blue Shot Show Limited Edition).
It's just one of those knives that you fall in love with when you get it in your hands and I do like how the Micata Scale Section picks up a Patina on it.
I now have it on my buy list for a USER and am actively looking for one, I hope that is helpful..

Just an FYI. The earlier 615's have a Blackwood logo on the back side of the blade. The newer ones don't have it, but might be a little less expensive also. Anybody have any pics of the black and blue LE? 0 -
I just got my very first Rukus. It is a 615 PE. I have been carrying it for a few days now. I like it. I will have to get some pictures posted soon.
I had never even held one before so I was suprised at the size of it even for a mini.0 -

The 615 is a great knife, one of the top ten Benchmades all-time. The 615 was my "one" knife for a couple of years there, until the 581, and the 806-1101 LEs came out.
The handle feels great, it's comfortable, secure in most grip positions. The knife is custom grade in terms of construction, thick liners, thick contoured handle scales, thick blade stock. It has a very efficient and versatile blade shape and full flat grind. S30V steel too, I think, or was that only the 610?
I took the clip off too, and carried in a belt pouch. i don't mind doing that at all though, particularly with a knife the size of the 615. I wouldn't enjoy carrying it in my pocket regardless of the clip design.
Yeah, I think it is one of the best all-time Benchmades. Get one, give it a try. It could be your "one" Benchmade too.0 -
Yeah, the 615, 710, and 730 were the three BMs I though were the coolest when I first got into knives but didn't have any money. Now I've got a bit of money (still not much), and two of those are out of production. I've gotten really lucky with the recent Ares LEs, but no such luck on the 615.
There's that one sitting in WTS right now, and I'm about a bill short... It's killing me.0 -

But for me, the 610 and 615 take up a bit too much pocket space. The 630 is nice (its clips a bit big) and the 635 (whole knife is bit too small)Kinda like the three bears...

It was one of those knives that got away. Had the money for it back when it was in production but had to keep putting it off for something else. I would like to try one but don't mind waiting for the right one. 0 -

I had to modify the recessed clip area
a smig. and a bit more of the handle sticks out of your pocket. but it works great.0 -

Its Benchmades best hard use EDC knife ever! The 610 fills your hand and I find it is a delight to carry for such a big blade, and the pocket clip does allow for the deepest carry of any BM I own.
I've only managed to break a 610's blade once... BM made it right!
Get one, pay the current prices, they arent going down anytime soon.once you have a miny you'll crave a full size!

I think that what you are saying is so true, I have a NIB 610 Prototype, 615SBK-2 (Blue) and a 615BK in my collection, I have been looking around for a used 615 PE uncoated for EDC for a little while.
That 610 is just too big to carry, at least it is for me..

For me, its just the good old 615. Both of mine are satin PE. One is micarta and the other is CF. I had a 610, but sold it. When I need something that big, I usually strap on a fixed blade. The other versions of Rucki are A/O. I haven't bought any of those in the past. 0
