781

Who has a 781 Anthem on the way? Eventually
I do, I do and really looking forward to it.
I spoke with BKC yesterday about the 781 and found out the spine is crowned! All done by hand.
Just another added attraction to this stellar knife from BKC.
That's the good news.
The bad news is it may take longer than anticipated to get one.
Optimistically we could be seeing them at the end of March. Realistically, sigh,. . . much later.
This all comes from BKC customer service.
On the sunny side this gives us time to save up for it.

Yeah, they can't come soon enough.
I just finally pre-ordered one last night.
I think I'm done chasing older models for now...
So I'm anxious to finally see this thing in person.
Yeah, the crowned spine sold me.0 -
My dealer friend is ordering me one. His volume isn't high, so it could take awhile.... 0 -
It seems like it checks most of the boxes for me. Plus, infinite possibilities for different ano jobs.
Here's a screen-shot of the screws for the lock mechanism:0 -
this isn't going to be some sort of limited production model is it? I don't want to (can't afford to) get one now and am hoping they'll be around a while 0 -
Production run, brother.
You've got time...0 -
I personally hope the 781 becomes the new 'bread and butter' of the BM lineup, and sticks around for the long term. I know it's price puts it out of the question for a certain part of the market, but I mean, just imagine the possibilities with this knife... I'm dreaming up some pretty sweet variants in my head (that I'll spare you - for now). In my mind, this thing is pretty much the perfect EDC. But throw a couple other blade steels at it, some different machining patterns, varry the anodization colors, DLC it, heck, even change the blade - tanto, recurve, modified somethingorother - I'm pretty sure I'd keep buying 'em. I like this platform. Hope it doesn't turn out awesome, only to do the dip like the Vicar did, for example, due to dwindling sales. I can't see this 781 being anything but popular though. It's my wish that I'll get to collect a slew of 781's in my lifetime. The LE's are limitless with this knife. 0 -
AND...
Another thing that really excites me is the thought of the 781's blade riding on Benchmade's thrust bearings - on an Axis lock knife!. I believe that'll be a first. (Correct me if I'm wrong, please). I absolutely love the smooth action on the 761 (it's sublime), and although I never kept my 928 Proxy, it's identical bearings made for a pretty great feel as well for a flipper. But this... to be able to open and close the blade so smoothly with my beloved Axis lock gives me tingles just thinking about it...
Man, I'm getting myself worked up over here.Obviously. But with good reason. This thing is gonna be sweet! Like I said, it can't drop soon enough.

Price, materials, bearings, and model number all remind me of the 761. 0 -
Just the idea of a slightly larger MDP version of the 941/3 is very exciting to me. My hope is that it will take over a lot of my pocket time. I do have one on pre-order. I don't mind if it takes a while, personally...don't want it to hit my CC the same month as the model 87 bali.

Welcome back Jason
I hope your TO didn't involve too much what was in the pipe.
Do you have any updates on the Anthem?0 -

Thank ya.
Didn't involve too much that was in the pipe? You mean delaying awesome new product releases?
I think we're still looking at April for delivery, last I looked. Again, it's a Ti handle with a massive amount of machining, so the initial build takes awhile.0 -

Naw, Naw, naw - that would be mean spirited and that's not how I roll.
I was kiddingly adding TO + pipe + Oregon's recreational use of M0 -
I bought another of the BM blue 7 knife plexiglass displays for my expanding Benchmade knife inventory.
I display them from big to small.
The Anthem is 3.5" and I left a spot for it.
Really looking forward to filling that spot.

For me, the anticipation factor on this one is extremely high. 0 -

AND the by hand work done on the blade crowning!
March is almost over.
Looking forward to the first member posting his cool Anthem pic.
I looked up the definition of Anthem.
Jason can you shed some light on the name choice?0 -

YES!!! I have one ordered through my dealer friend and co-worker. Can't wait for this one!0 -
Each time I see the 781 being handled in a video, the weathered bronze (gold) color of the handle becomes more and more striking. It's really making me want it that much more. Something unique to add to the collection. It'll stand out, for sure. 0 -

Haha I'm an engineer. I can shed no light on name choices.

Thanks, I didn't know these were there. Just spent a bunch of time after lunch looking at them. Now I'm even more excited for this one to be released!0 -

On utube? I'm sure Google will point the way once I have a moment0 -
I wonder who will get the first one?
I'm thinking it will be Wulff.
That guy has more irons in the fire than a Boy Scout weenie roast.0 -
Yeah, there's quite a few YouTube videos where you can have a look at the knife being handled. Just search for it. It'll come up.
I'm responsible for at least 100 views on all those vids, btw.

Marty I finally had time to look at some utube 781 vids and only found the same Shot Show vids.
Which actually is to be expected because nobody has one yet.
If you have a better link please post it.0 -
Yeah, there's not many vids out there...
Not sure if you came across this one, but I enjoy it for a close up look:
781 Anthem0 -
Yeah that's probably the best of them.
I guess we will just have to wait for a lucky member to get one and post0 -
The more I look at it, the more I like it. I just can't get past the color. I'll wait for a stonewashed grey or other anodized color. Yeah, it could be re-anodized, but I don't want to have to do that on a knife that I'm spending that much on. 0 -

Yeah that's my biggest concern as well. I'm a boring black and gray kinda guy. I'll have to see it in person before deciding one way or another.0 -
I'm going to have to see it to decide on color. I've seen pictures where it looks really gold, which I probably wouldn't like, and others where it looks like a very pale bronze color, which would be much better (in my opinion). 0
