So when these things get swapped out, which do you suppose will be the most-desirable pairing? CF w/ standard steel? Or s90v w/ an aluminum handle?

The only problem I see with that is S90v's reputation for eating up consumables. It might be something that's hard for them to continuously make. Plus the carbon fiber likes to eat up endmills. Luckily the 940 isn't really a 3d contour shape so it shouldn't be too hard on mills. I gurrantee that's why they went to barrel spacers with it. That way they don't have to mill out all the extra material on a thicker piece of CF to do the step down before the thin backspacer.
I feel like the -1 is similar to the 710-1 -2 -3, which was like the unlimited limited? They just made as many as they could sell in a year... it might be something like that.0 -

Possibly, but -1 has also been used for things like the 470-1, which replaced the 470 and the 300-1. also, the current unlimited limiteds out there are 551-1401 and 810-1401, so it seems like they are using the normal LE numbering for those now.0 -

I also like the barrel spacers and if they're blue that's the best anyway. I personally don't see why anyone would do any swapping parts with a regular 940. 0
