anyone integrating a portable water filter setup in their bob, camping gear, vehicles, etc? i went ahead and purchased a berkey sport bottle to stow in car and am thinking about getting a couple of sawyer mini filter kits as well.
I have no idea what the hell you just said.0 -
korz, portable water filtration kits/systems for when you need to drink water from questionable sources such as streams, lakes, ponds, puddles, etc. filters out things that can make you ill, or worse...
I don't carry any spare water in vehicle and figure this is another option.
YouTube berkey or sawyer water filters for some reviews. life straw in another popular one.0 -
I don't have any sort of water filtration now because I just haven't been camping in quite a while, and I've gotten complacent with emergency supplies. I've used them in the past when I did a lot of hiking years (decades) ago. I used to do 3-5 day hikes where I was packing a 60 lbs pack for 6-10 miles a day. This is the Pacific Northwest, go hiking and you'll find a stream every few miles. No way was I carrying gallons of water. I had a pump type one for quickly filling pots to cook with or make coffee, worked basically like a fluid transfer pump but with a filter. For walking water I'd just dip my water bottle in the stream to fill it and drink through a filtered straw. 0 -
I wonder, does those filter filters out bacteria, or Virus? 0 -
i think most quality ones do. i'll take a pic of spec sheet on my berkey when i get home. it's like a page of crap; absolutely amazing. i think i want to get another one so i have a pair in car. what sets berkey aside from some of the other makers is that they filter out chemicals too.
lulz, a summer of reading shtf/zombie books and it gets me thinking about all this crap like prybars and water filters... i need and old 4x4 bronco now.

Outstanding. As long as there is chemical war, you are all good
Selenium is a poison, and there are 20% residual... Make sure not to drink out of known source
Seriously, it is very high filtration capability. Thanks for the share

How do I get a permit for one of those?
I can think of a how it can be put to good, productive use around here, especially now.0 -
maybe you'll get lucky and find an aftermarket hood mount for the new ride.
