Great little fixed blade that seems to get no respect.

Now those are a very cool pair Carson, what's the story about these ones?

There are some amazing collections in this thread. I only ever had two H&K's a 14210 that I liked better than a mini-grip and a 14205 that I thought was every bit as tuff & solid as a 520.
    Cool

The 975 was my first Benchmade and the 970/975 have been my favorite Benchmade models for about 15 years now. I saw these two being sold as a pair on a Jerzee-based forum late last year and had to pick them up. I had been looking for one for a while and wound up with two

Sadly, there's not much to this story, but it was the first HK-marked Benchmade I believe. They remain my favorite HK knives because its my favorite Benchmade model.

I own 4 975's and 3 970's, but I've never really been interested in owning an Emerson-branded knife.

    Ahhh, ok, thanks.

I was just curious because I kind of had to look twice to see what was going on there, not often a guy see's 3 big names like that together on one knife.

An HK branded Emerson made by Benchmade.

Just found it an interesting piece. Without doing any digging, looks like an HK promotional knife

Just my opine, but the Benchmade versions of the Emersons are better knives. Thanks again for the pics Different!

Of that, I have no doubt.

I have one Emerson, and IMHO it just doesn't measure up to the BMs I have that are in it's class. There are aspects about it I do like, but I simply don't see why F&F have to suffer to make the knife what it is.

I have the distinct feeling that the BM made cqc7 is what the current Emerson made version should be.

Haven't had the opportunity to actually handle one though, and until I do I just can't see paying the premium that these knives seem to demand (the classic BM made emersons, that is).

But then again, if someone were to offer to sell me one for a reasonable price, I'd be all over it, bill payments be damned. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge...

    Carson,
What's the story on the HK 14210 with the different scales at the bottom of your pic? Never saw that one before, then again the only HK knives I have a couple of 14205's.

    agony,
I saw the scales for sale on a Jerzee-based forum for $25 some months back. They're green jigged bone and I thought they'd look neat on a knife. I bought the scales only to discover I had the large knife and the scales would only fit a small one. I searched for a week or so and found a small one to put the handles on.

When I first did it I posted a few pictures here and a few folks inquired about where they could get some. I went back to the guy I bought them from and he told me they were unique and a one-of-a-kind item as he'd made them himself and had no intention of making any more in the future. I kind of feel I lucked out; they have the appearance of a rather classic knife, but with an axis lock and on a great platform.

    Wow, that's awesome, Carson!

$25?? Absolutely beautiful!! Nothing I like better than one-of-a-kinds-- and that one rises to the top of the pile.

edit-- Does the jigging aid in gripping? Looks pretty smooth otherwise.

Yeah people. I guess I should have put mine up one post at a time to drag this thread out longer!

Y'know what the problem is Different? It's hard to outdo the 14205 and 14210 designs.

To me they're the top of the line HK branded knives even 'out of print'.

I also see they don't come up very often on the secondary market, which may have to do with most of us keeping them in our collections.

Benchmade needs to come up with something new and refreshing for the current HK lineup, IMO.

I love that they are users and proudly wear the marks of one.

I agree. There's nothing in the HK line anymore that I would want to buy. The 14205 is one of my favorite knives ever. If only it had come out with some better steel. maybe a little nicer g10, too.

a little late, but what the heck?

I have several of the HK line. Unfortunately, I only have a pic of one, but here it is:

The limited edition scales are a lot nicer than the 14205. They have a nice thickness to them and rounded corners. I wish they'd made them in black.

I love the green, but I bet you could Rit dye them black.

Oh I didn't mean I didn't like the green, I do. I just also want black
