Sharp Pebble Whetstone
I recently purchased a Sharp Pebble whetstone (and strop) from Amazon. Every time I've tried a sharpening product I've invariable messed up. But this system is pretty foolproof. I got the double-sided 1000/6000 whetstone (and the Gladius leather strop) and I've got to say, I didn't mess it up. I sharpened my Benchmades as well as my Global kitchen knives. All are now razor sharp. I do want to stress that all of my knives were in good shape, not totally dulled or chipped. They sell a 400 whetstone if that is the case.
It is simply a matter of holding an angle while using it (it comes with an angle device but that was somewhat clunky in my estimation). The stone is good-sized, certainly big enough to handle my chef's knives. I simply followed the directions, soaking it for 15 minutes first and wetting the blade as well. After sharpening, I then stropped 5-10 times after coating the leather with the green stuff they supply. The whole process was quick and easy (I barely needed the 1000 for many of my knives).
If anyone out there is like me, not good with sharpening devices, this one seems like a good bet. My Benchmades have never been this sharp, even after I had the company resharpen them.

good to know, but I’ve always had a hard time keeping consistent angle on a stone. I’ll probably need to keep trying but I’ve become a bit lazier as I get up there with age.
My Work Sharp rod kit seems to be doing ok, but can’t do larger kitchen knives.0
