I have a question for anyone out there. I have two versions of the Benchmade 601 Tengu knife that was a collaboration with Jared Oeser knives. On one the G10 scales are black and white layered and on the other (which I picked up used) has all black scales (see attached pictures. I can't find any information about the all black online. Anyone aware of why this one is all black? Dis Benchmade make and all black G10 scale for the 601? Everything looks accurate and correct. Since I bought it used there is no box.

Howdy!  It would appear that the Tengu with the all black spacer is a counterfeit, unfortunately.  Jared’s logo is more squared-off that the maker’s mark on this knife, and the blade itself doesn’t have the perpendicular grind lines that all 601’s (and almost all satin Benchmade knives) have.  I’ve attached a picture that shows what I mean by “perpendicular grind lines” - on your other Tengu, you should see those lines pretty clearly.

I was worried that it was a counterfeit, Im glad I didnt pay that much for it. Well I guess I can add a clip on it for giggles and not feel bad about it. Thanks for the advice.
