Not sure there is one correct angle.  The angle selection depends on how you use it, how often you use it, angle it came with from the factory, how often you want to sharpen, etc.

When I used the Sharp Maker I was mostly a 20 degree person.  I found that worked well for my knives and usage.  And that seemed close the the factory angles which I liked  because re-profiling can take some time with the Sharp Maker.   Now use a Wicked Edge.  The 940 I carry the most is at 18 degrees which seems anbout perfect for my usage.  Interestingly I just got a damaged blade on my 940 replaced .  I set the angle to about 18 and that seemed very close to the bevel Benchamde put on the new blade..

Ron, I'd try the 20 degree setting. Rub the very  edge of the blade edge first with a Magic Marker. Then after sharpening a bit you can check the edge to see if the Magic Marker line has been removed.

Thanks for the replies. I used the 20 deg. angle on the Sharpmaker and got a magnificent edge (shaves and smoothly slices thin paper).
