Damascus - Dama Ladder

Maybe this is a stupid question but I assume it’s normal that the Damascus pattern on either side of the knife blade can vary dramatically.

my new CR blade for example. The right side almost has a solid line across the bottom half that kind of visually stands out. Not a big deal but made me wonder how much variation there can be and if less variation side to side is more ideal or if it’s just personal preference.

  Dama Ladder as with any Damasteel or Damascus for that matter can vary significantly from side to side and often does. I think most collectors prefer a similar pattern but considering the process to create the different patterns it rarely happens. I have a number of Damasteel BMKs, some with symmetrical patterns some without. All in all it's personal preference.

  It bothers me a little that mine has that line through the one side but not a huge deal I guess. Idk.  Wonder if that is something BM pays attention to when they make these or not
