RIP Mel Pardue

Couldn’t find anything on the forum yet, but I saw this on Reddit. Just did a quick google search to verify but it looks true.
A legend with a long line of great blades, and one of the best reputations in the business. Carrying a 551-191 for the next few days.

Sad news indeed. His designs like the Griptilian, the 531 & the 530 “folding dagger” lives on as timeless classics.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I always liked Mel. If he didn't have anything else to talk about he would tell you how his body was falling apart and curse the doctors for a few minutes.
Mel Pardue's and Warren Osborne's designs were the backbone of Benchmade's designs as Les' brand came to prominence. Mel and Warren were dear friends and to help smooth out the ups and downs in their royalty income from Benchmade they agreed to share the royalties of both their designs between them.
Mel has also done some beautiful custom knives over the years and I'm proud to possess some of them. I pray for comfort and strength to his family. I'm glad his son Joe Pardue and grandson Robert Carter are carrying on the trade.

My first Benchmade was a Mel design. Still have it and use it. Great tool. Many thanks Mel and rest in peace.
