I actually don’t think the prices are that bad. Kitchen cutlery gets up there.
the -191 CR was $1500 msrp. This is a lot more knife, lots of Damasteel. Less hand finish, yes.
the only bummer is these are all thru BKC’s site, so no quiet deals from local dealers.

They aren't too shabby, but I think at that price I'd prefer Carter Cutlery. Less cost and (dare I say) better quality for the kitchen. Damasteel is gorgeous, but I don't know that I'd pick it for kitchen knives.
And just to clarify...I'm talking about the regular smiths at Carter Cutlery...not Mr. Carter himself. Just one of those knives will run you more than this whole set....

I thought about the station knife for the wife and we thought the $300. price was to much $1500 is just nuts, maybe if I win the lottery.

/|\ While these maybe pretty, they are truly more poser then performance.
Blade Magazine recently had a comparison of these Benchmade kitchen knives. While Benchmade’s were rated good only place they topped the list was in price.
The article’s author had been a butcher & was now a wilderness guide. Beside fear of loosing a valuable knife in the woods, he was also concerned with thinness of blades it would break in use.
I’d hope Mac would lend his expertise to this thread.

I hate to say this but I think BM is losing touch with reality some of these prices are just unbelievable I am a fan and always will be but sometimes I just have to wonder what they are thinking.

I agree I buy every gold class and have bought every gold class I could just to check them out..... I will not be buying these... not that i can't afford them just that they don't do it for me
