Must just be me…but if the action is smooth and fast, the detent is right, and the blade isn’t scraping against anything, I don’t really mind if it’s off-center.

Loosen your liners and then losing your pivot then tighten your pivot and then tighten the liners

    Looks great Ripping!

I've run into a few BMKs that have been a PIA to get centered... Give this a try is all else fails..

Sometimes you may need to overtighten the pivot screw to get the pivot head to drop flush within the circular milling of the scale.

If your sure its seated all the way...

Follow Wulff's instructions above again, but before you tighten everything open the 940 and hold the blade in a towel. Next with the other hand "bend" the entire handle in the same direction of the side that is close. Not to worry you won't break it. You should see the blade moving away from the scale. If it gets closer you are bending it the wrong way. Next tighten all your scale screws starting from the rear of the handle. Then tighten the scale to liner screws, rearmost first and then finally tighten the pivot.

    Good luck!

/|\ As to centering the 940’s blade you gotten lots of good advice from guys who know & I trust.

Another tip I hope will be useful is using wooden chop stick & or a wooden popsicle stick ( after eating , washing the stick clean & letting the stick dry). The liners on the 940 don’t always sit flush in the handle pockets they go in & the screw lengths are short, so I put the chopstick in between the two liners so the liners sit tight against the handle when I put in the liners screws. The chopsticks I get free with my takeout fit the  940’s blade channel nicely but are a little too thick for the 945’s & Bugouts so on those knives I use the popsicle stick to put pressure on the liner from inside the blade channel when I tighten the handles to the liners.

Also before you tighten down on the pivot screw to make sure the pivot bolt is seated properly, you may find it helpful to put the popsicle stick between the blade & liner it’s closest to. I like these wooden sticks as they don’t scratch the blade during Re-assembly.

    Hope all the suggestions help.

If you didn't get it aligned I was going to suggest the old matchbook trick next. Basically the same thing he does in the video. It's usually my last resort if nothing else works.

Glad you got it taken care of Ripping!
