The problem with pocket carry
Maybe others have had the same issue carrying their folder with pocket clip in a front pocket of jeans. After I first started carrying my BMK, I had a problem with the knife being pushed up and out of my pocket of my jeans when I sat down, particularly in my truck or car. It was just annoying until one day I was at the car wash and when they turned my truck back over to me after a wash, I went to climb in and saw my BMK laying on the seat! Think about the consequences of that when you're at a place where you might be separated from your knife without knowing it. Sadly, as that knife is now owned by a thief, it drives home one of life's indisputable truths, we live in a world of thieves. Act accordingly.
Because carrying my knife in a back pocket has never been an option for me, I began carrying it inside my sock, clipped to the top. That worked well most of the time when socks fit like they should and solved my problem anytime I'm not wearing cargo pants or shorts. It even works for my mini flashlight in the other sock.
Any similar experiences? Can anyone relate?

/|\ We all can relate to a missing knife - horror!😩
As ti suggestions see the discussion on lanyards, I also like horizontal belt pouches. I’ve even a Maxpedition double pouch so knife & flashlight ( or 2nd knife) ride together. In winter a 950 rides in zippered chest coat pocket.
Never stuck my knife in a sock, but have been told plenty of times to stick a sock in it - I’ll shut up now.🤬

Never had a Benchmade unclip by moving about but I can see it being a problem with tight fitting jeans. Had a Spyderco come out once in the car, but that was a thin wire clip design.
Slightly off topic: I remember being in Florida and had to get rid of some weight for plane luggage allowance, so I threw away some stuff including clothing. Just before we left for the airport I double checked some shorts in the bin only to find my beloved 940 clipped to the pocket!

The only prob I have is scratching up the steering wheel getting in/out of my car. I carry it in the right front pocket. I’ve tried the left, but can’t get used to it. I try to be conscious about it, but either I’m too fat or have buff thigh muscles.

Some knives, I’ll clip the knife in a sleeve of some sort (with a flashlight, pen or something) and it slips into the front pocket. It doesn’t really make retrieving a knife quick tho.1
