Benchmade Select a Knife Guide
So I got an email from BKC with a series of questions to help you determine what BKC model best suits your needs / preferences.
So I’m curious & spend the 3 minutes answering the questions to find “my cold steel soulmate”.
And based on my answers they suggest full size Grip.
I don’t own a Grip & don’t want one. For my needs & preferences it’s just about the last Benchmade I’d want to EDC.
So while I commend Benchmade for wanting to help, I suggest adding questions to fine tune the selection process. I think in my case two questions skewed the selection
1) color handle preferences- for tan &
2) weight - for me lightweight.
Maybe a questions on price & steel preference would help.
Good first try now improve the questions asked.

The selections I made should have come to the most likely candidate of a full size Griptilian at least I thought that they would. But no. Alas, it chose a 4300 CLA for me even though I selected manual open. While I do own a CLA it's not my first choice for EDC. As well I live in California where carrying an automatic could cause me some problems. I'll admit that on occasion I do rock my little 5750 Mini Presidio II when I don't feel like flicking my wrist and know that I'll be in a precarious position.
It looks like the "Knife Finder" is now a component of the Benchmade Website. I'm wondering if it will be a permanent fixture and have to agree with Mr. Hammer that the Knife Finder needs some tuning!

Haha it told me 4300 CLA too despite my saying I needed manual opening.
Glad we could beta test it for Benchmade.

A custom shop only Bedlam sounds good! With options like fixed or folder, M390 or Elmax, DLC or Satin, standard or full size

I took the quiz again, with Automatic as a preference, and it selected the mini Infidel.
um, No to both selections

I got griptilian, I do own a griptilian but can't remember the last time I actually carried it. This knife finder could probably use a bit of fine tuning.
Edit, it was actually mini griptilian which is somehow worse of a guess for myself

/|\ I’ve done it several times now ( seriously when snowed in you have to find things to amuse yourself)
I tried several different modifications to my answers in all cases I asked for a lightweight folders ( I expected to see Bugouts, Bailouts & 940’s all of which fit my lifestyle)
First try checked EDC use daily- suggest Grip
Second try again checked EDC but little use - suggestion mini - Grip
Third I tried military but stayed with lightweight folder- suggestion was a fixed blade ??? I really thought I rigged it to get a Bailout. It also said the fixed blade suggested met 75% of my preferences.
I’d like to suggest the way you use your knife ( e.g. EDC) & type of knife (e.g. manual folder) should take precedence in selection process & once those are established the weight & color get to factor into the selection. I’d also suggest asking desired blade length is more important than color with legal restrictions in some states & cities.
