Jon I caught the video this morning and checked out the online catalog. Exciting to say the least!

I have had a catalog for 3 weeks.

I’ll be grabbing the new Fixed Adamas first.  Great updates with this one.  Will have to check out the new family of 27* folders to decide which ones are for me.

It’s also high time for me to Bugout...  2021 is the year for me to finally do so.  Both the -3 & -4 appeal to me.  Gonna need both.  Bravo, Benchmade.  Well played.  Thank you for the M390 especially.

Must also pick up the Meatcrafter since I snoozed on the original.

I like what I see in the Claymore.  If they produce a plain edge model eventually, I’ll need to ask for a favor from my willing and able Forum bros.  Definitely will already need to cash in a favor for the other Black Class Axis- Auto that is upcoming.

Those Oms look like they’d be fun as hell, too..

I was pleased to notice the 980SBK Turret remains in the lineup, and am still very hopeful that an updated plain edge model makes a resurgence later on (Cruwear/M4?!).

Nice touch on the Gold Class Tengu with the blue PVD liners!

Looking forward to all the other currently unannounced products.

Haha, probably because they wanted to save that new product announcement for later...

Yeah I was wondering why they didn't mention it either and figured they'd be surprising us with it later. Note also this is a "Fall / Winter Catalog". I guess that means we'll be seeing a "Spring / Summer Catalog'! Hmmm

The NPA (that we aren’t supposed to have seen yet) says the “estimated shipping month is February”...  So I think they were just trying to save some heat for later.  Gonna be a sweet drop, whenever it lands...

I’d really like to get a look at the new upcoming pens.  The 1120 Longhand & 1121 Shorthand.

    1120 Longhand:
This tasteful Benchmade pen is the Longhand 1120. The Longhand has a full brushed 303 stainless steel casing and fashions a knurling pattern. On the top of this particular pen, you will find an AXIS style bolt action opener. The black ink cartridge is replaceable.

    Features:

    • Length: 4.62"
    • Diameter: 0.45"

    1121 Shorthand:

This mini Benchmade pen is the Shorthand 1121. The Shorthand has a full brushed 303 stainless steel casing and fashions an ergonomic knurling pattern. On the top of this particular pen, you will find an AXIS styled bolt action. The black ink cartridge is replaceable.

    Features:

    • Length: 3.49"
    • Diameter: 0.45"

I'm not a fan of flippers myself, and to be honest the Tengu looks a bit over the top busy. So not my favorite.
Like the blue accents, but just not on these scales.
Maybe with normal CF, it would look better ... well ... just like the 535-3

I didn't jump on the original Tengu 601 Flipper myself. I'd did acquire a 602 Tengu Tool and I found it a bit odd.

I do like the look of this 601-211 Gold Class and have to say that I am disappointed that it is being released in the new "Gold Class Simple Box" format and would not be coming in the Normal Large Box/Vault confifguration. I might have actually grabbed one if it did due to its low MSRP of $550

/|\ Tim, old gold boxes are cool, just wish what go in those boxes were always as cool.

I actually think the Gold Tengu is pretty cool.  It’s just not really for me.  However, I enjoy the concept and appreciate the depth of the theme (cool ideas, Uncle Vance

).  As always, I think we’d all appreciate theses kinds of pieces much more, were we to actually get one in hand and examine it.  That said, Oeser’s custom Tengu appears on point (very much so),  to say the least.  As well, over the years I’ve grown to really appreciate Benchmade’s quest to design and produce knives that are continually pushing the envelope, expanding on ideas in new territory, and not always keeping with the same old thing.  I realize I’m as guilty as the next person for voicing my wants for more of the tried and true classics of the past, but I personally think Benchmade is doing a great job of staying current in today’s market while not straying too far from their roots.  Just my 2 cents.

I definitely agree with Mac. It's great to see new innovations and quite some new steel in the coming lineup from Benchmade !

The Tengu is a piece of art, just not my favorite.

Hey everyone, we're so happy to see the enthusiasm for our 2021 releases! We've been hard at work on these, and of course we're always listening to what you guys have to say. And you just know this isn't all that's coming this year.

Concerning the leaked release schedule, that information is meant to remain confidential and available only to our dealers. It's possible things can change, which is why we don't publish these dates in advance.

The 4170BK Auto Fact is part of our announced slate of new knives. We wanted to keep the video closer to 15 minutes or so, so we didn't quite get everything in there. You can see the video for the Auto Fact here:

Sorry Jon I didn't know that. I sent it to the digital shredder!

That 4170 Auto Fact is going to be a must have for me! Probably more than one!

Also happy with M390, but why are we coating it?

No worries! I don't want to be the forum police, just want to make sure everyone understands why that's not public info. I am just as excited for each of these knives to drop as you all are!

Because DLC coatings are awesome, for starters.

I’m not just saying that because I like them.  I believe it also has to do with performance as well.  In my mind, a blade which has been DLC coated actually slices/cuts with less friction/drag than the one with standard BKC satin finish.  I think this is due to the uniform PVD application.

[@mention:589599268366185139] - Am I at all correct on this?

DLC is a friction reducing coating

There we go!  As well, it is basically self-lubricating as it wears, right?   I know I’ve read/heard all this somewhere before...  I think?
