Custom Mini Crooked River
Got my custom Mini Crooked River yesterday and it was worth the nearly one-month wait. Smooth action, extremely sharp, all the details fit perfectly. I have a "regular" 940-2 and while it works very well, this is at a much higher level of workmanship and fit.
I've got Buck and Case knives, recently went through a series of Kershaws culminating in a Zero Tolerance 0770CF, and this is clearly at the top of the heap. The ZT is excellent, but I'm left-handed and the main issue I have with it and the Kershaws is they don't work as well in the left hand. Benchmarks are ambidextrous, and that makes all the difference.
This custom was well worth the extra money and the longish wait for delivery.

/|\ So great after a wait you’re pleased with results. Wait until you wait 2to 5 years for a knife from a custom maker.😉
So what blade steel did you choose?
Hope you enjoy it for a life time & then pass it onto a grandchild.

Hi- Thanks. I've SEEN what you've been posting. Quite impressive. To say the least.
I chose the 20CV for this one. I just wanted a knife that looked like knives used to look. Not some sort of Steampunk look.
I was born in the 40's when knives had wooden handles.
I just bought my older son a 202 Leuku for the holidays. Where he lives, in the boonies of New Mexico, it's considered a baby knife. But he's happy with it, it works for his purposes on the farm. My younger son likes knives, but right now flippers and assisteds seem to scare him a bit, where he does like the Case and Buck folders I've given him.
I've got a friend who does the custom order thing where there is a five-year wait. And then he puts it in his collection. I just want a knife to carry around. I use my tools. Now I've got a small rotation going, with this and the 940-2 and the ZT.
Thanks for the like. Happy holidays!

I love seeing other guys pick up the Mini Crooked River, especially from the custom shop. Great choice, sir. I think you will be even more pleased, the more you carry it. I don’t reach for much else these days. It’s definitely my favorite model in Benchmade’s current line up, and the one I incessantly recommend to everyone these days. I absolutely agree that a custom shop order is worth the extra bit of $. I too enjoy the classic look of wood scales. Enjoy, and may your new blade serve you well.

/|\,
A guy buying a CR - I knew you’d post Mac.
So Mac what do you recommend The Dude buys next. I say try a Bugout for when the CR too heavy & a Bugout at $119 hard to beat price wise.

I recommend he spends a bit more $ on a Bugout. Either in the custom shop, or wait until 2021... There’s a couple sweet ones coming.

I've got a very nice Zero Tolerance 0770CF. Quite a bit heavier than the MCR,

And my 940-2 is certainly lighter than the MCR. For that matter, I have a Kershaw Leek that is featherweight and has such a sweet action. The only issue with it is I can't switch the clip for left-handed carry.
