Mini Loco Question
The Mini Loco has been on my list of knives to buy for a while, and now that they've been discontinued, I picked a couple up at great prices. I bought these knives a few weeks apart at different authorized retailers. Both are first production run knives, but they have different standoffs. The first one I got (I put a mini deep carry clip on it) has just regular barrel standoffs, while the other one has wide triangular shaped standoffs.

Was this a change to the design, or are they supposed to have the same standoffs? It seems odd to implement such a change in the middle of the first production run.

That is very strange, and something we should have a closer look at. The one on the left is correct. Give Customer Service a call and they will get you squared away!

Ok, Thanks! I'm still waiting on a reply about another customer service issue, I'll call next week to get everything sorted out.

Both of mine have the wide triangular standoffs. And I'm not aware of any change in the standoffs during the first production run. That's very strange to say the least.
The question I have is was the box sealed on the one that came with the other Mini Loco? Its possible that someone purchased the knife, swapped the spacers and returned it. I've never seen Benchmade use spacers of that particular style.
I would suggest calling Benchmade CS at 1 (833) 557-2526 and ask about the different spacers used in that knife. If in fact it turns out that they were not factory installed I would return the knife to the authorized dealer and request that they exchange it or refund you for it.
Just my 2 cents!

The problem is, the one with different spacers is the first one I got, I've used it and sharpened it (after accidentally dropping it on a tile floor like a moron). I wouldn't feel right returning it after that.
The thing is, I don't actually mind these standoffs.

Strange...
It seems there’s an assembler who’s been drinking the Blue Lube for the past while...

I did a little investigating, and yup, whoever put the first one together just plain forgot the backspacers. The posts that you see go under those wide triangular backspacers, so now the lanyard tube is the only part providing proper spacing out there at the butt of the handle.
I guess my first clue that something was wrong should have been the fact that the liners are flared out at the lanyard tube, almost as if the liners are under tension at the handle screws. This is pretty disappointing that it made it through QC without backspacers...
