We've essentially split the product line into two different price points. Your essential variations (15017, 15004, 15002) will have the stabilized wood handles, and S30V blades similar to the previous versions (15006 will have S30V with an updated Santoprene handle). The premium variations (15017-1, 15002-1) will feature Richlite handles and S90V blades with the SelectEdge. Holding to the same historical HRC specs for both steels.

The premium variations sound really great Troy! Finally some super steel in fixed blades beyond the current Altitude and some of the older models. What more can you tell us about SelectEdge? Is it simply a name for the new 14° edge used with the new 15500-1, 15017-1 and 15002-1's or will we be seeing more varied edges? Will it be available in other existing production and customized models?

Really excited to get S90 into more Hunt designs given it's performance on the Altitude.
The SelectEdge tech is still relatively cryptic, and I don't want to steal the team's thunder since we'll be releasing more in depth information on the differences soon. However, the 14° edge will be exclusive to the SelectEdge process. The jury's still out as to whether or not the tech will be applied to product beyond those released in the new Hunt collection.1 -
I do love my Altitude Troy. The Altitude's S90 has performed very well and with moderate use it is still as sharp as the day it left the Benchmade factory. S90 is easily becoming one of my favorite steels.
SelectEdge's crypticity was the reason for my question. A ™ on a name for a process usually means that there will be other variants within the process to be able to expand the process to what would be worth actually trade marking. I as I'm sure others look forward to hearing about more in depth information regarding the differences coming in SelectEdge.
I guess I'll have to put my Hidden Canyon Hunter 15016-1 in S30V up for sale and replace it with the the new 15017-1 model and yeah, I'll probably also grab a 15002-1 Saddle Mountain Skinner when they become available!

I hope there is no conflict with this

Given the performance on the Altitude, any chance of a reintroduction of this much loved knife?

I don't see a ™ on the Legend Fitness SelectEDGE Cable Crossover Plus product.
You'll notice that Benchmade has trademarked SelectEdge as seen on the 15500-1 Meatcrafter web page. I don't think there will be a problem.

LMAO! Yes I'm feeling OK this morning Tu! But it's early still!

Custom scales may be an option, but I have to admit I really do like the look of the Richlite/Orange G10 on both the 15017-1 and the 15002-1 models. And they go well with their orange Boltaron sheaths!
Accidentally drop them in a bush and I'm sure that you'd be able to spot um easily.

Throw a little reflective paracord lanyard on it, and you're good to go in low light as well! I've got one on all my knives and gear that I tend to lose.

Yeah, maybe BKC can sue them.

They do have a SelectEDGE line products.

Heck ya! Intermingle that reflective paracord with strand of glow in the dark paracord and ya'd have to be blind to lose it. Ever!

S90V & Richlite.

Thank you very much, Benchmade! I’m loving the orange sheaths as well. Brilliant move.1 -

As I understand it, only the DLC version was disco'd, and they will still be making the orange version with camo sheath. Is this correct Troy?
And PS, thanks to Tory and BKC for making the forum a priority again. I literally got the general email announcement from BKC and the forum post announcement at the exact same moment this morning. Much appreciated.

+1 on thank you to BKC making announcements here a priority.
As to Altitude funny the black one discontinued, everyone who posted pics of theirs on this forum are black. Maybe an uncoated one will take its place.

No worries!
You are correct. DLC sku was discontinued but the ORG with First Lite sheath is staying in production.

Thanks Troy! The video is definitely interesting. The 28° included edge to the 14° cutting edge sounds like it will perform well under most dressing circumstances.
What are your thoughts when it comes to putting a mirror finish on the 14° edge, taking it to a WE System and while keeping the 14° cutting edge, simply polishing the edge say for instance? Do you think that that would deter from the SelectEdge's factory performance or would it give the S90V an even smoother cutting performance?

I haven't tried a mirror finish on any of mine, being that I haven't felt the need to personally. This edge performs so darn well right out of the box, it actually took some getting used to having a knife this sharp. In theory, you might see a slightly smoother cut, but this edge will react differently to a mirror polish than our common edge.

Thanks Troy! Your opinion helps for sure. I figure I'll give the Meatcrafter a go just the way it is when it arrives. I butcher up a lot of cryos and other merry goodies and I know it's gonna be the best knife in the kitchen. I'll probably have to hide it so Mrs. O doesn't start thinking it's her new knife! 😁
