The 4x’s and 51’s were awesome, the 87 is a brick, the handles are oddly shaped, way too wide IMO and there is little no balance for flipping, it’s like flipping a literal brick
if you compare it to other balisongs on the market that people rave about, the difference is night and day. no one is out touting it for flipping, or using it in competition, the 4x and 51 both had a large presence in the flipper arena.
maybe it’s good for EDC....

Sorry! I've been off the forum concentrating on some key projects that are in crunch time.
The 87 is definitely NOT discontinued.

Will do, however they typically don't have display knives out until after announcement & employees are very tight lipped. Even if you have seen a new knife or design, "we can not confirm or deny".
I had been looking for an 87 for a comparison, been to the factory store 5 or 6 times since the new year & no 87's were on display. Luckily one of the employees edc's an 87 & let me use his.
85 has the sound of a slightly smaller 87? Maybe not as drastic as an 82? I would think changing the handles from the size of a fat kindergarten pencil, to a thinner No.2 size would be the only change I'd want.

I’m thinking an 85 will be a blade replacement. Maybe a bowie or weehawk.

Why would you want to change the handles? Their length, weight and titanium are perfect for flipping.
