Discontinued Benchmade knives.
-
Ya i saw that & was gonna post something. Are all 88 of these knives really going to be discontinued?
0 -
/|\ Saw it too. Observed lots semi-serrated versions( e.g. 940S, 940S-1 , 940S-2) but plain edge were not listed. Same with Bedlam & others.
With price of Anthem wasn’t shocked to see it listed.
Jason, is Benchmade sending serrated blades the way of the Dodo bird?
0 -
Yep saw that myself too! Was going to pop in and post but...
Wow! 88 Bencjmades being discontinued? I see a number of combo blades on the list. Does that me just the combo variant will be discontinued?
There must a lot of new models coming out. I hope!
Jason can you confirm all the models in the BladeHQ ad are really now discontinued?

Forgot to list the satin PE Bedlam. Maybe the Bedlam is gone for good?

I can too! I've never been big on serrated or combo blades.
Although as this list is from only one retailer it has me thinking there are more knives being DC'd. The Presidio II, Rift and Contego's listed have me questioning if the complete families are going away?
As well while I only see combo 940s being DC'd I have to wonder. If the entire 940/943 family is being DC'd?
If so Bill might stroke out!

/|\ I’ll be OK if 94X’s are discontinued I’ve enough to last me two life times.
Doesn’t mean I don’t want a 940 with plain M390 blade

Big news over the knife community but too bad it is only a garbage dump.(personally)

Lets get some 535-1901 on sale.

I want that uncoated M390 940, too. And much like you with the 940s, I have enough Bedlams for this life and the next. Looks like they will still have the auto Bedlam for folks in auto friendly States.

Yes. I've been waiting for a 940 in M390. Hopefully soon!

And in Auto Unfriendly States too! lol

Shocked to see the Contego.
Like Boink said, I can live without the rest of the stuff.

Well pulled trigger on Bedlam. I’d been holding off waiting for an upgraded steel or an LE.
Better the knife in hand then perfect knife in a dream.5 -

Wow! That’s a big list.
I really like my mini presidio ii. These have only been out since 2018? Maybe pick up a second?
2 -
I just noticed that SMKW is having a sell off on the models listed. Although they do not mention in their ad that the knives are discontinued. Hmmm
1 -
Quite a list! Do you guys have any questions I can answer?
1 -
/|\ Thank you Ryan. I’ve 2 questions
1) Seems a lot of partially serrated knives discontinued. Is BKC fazing away from them?
2) how about a list with pics of the new 2020 knives. We will not tell anyone else.🤐
1 -
Of course!
1) We are still going to have and create partially serrated models but they will be more tailored to use case, versus making every model with a serrated version.
2) I will attempt to give you guys as much of a sneak peek as I can

Lets have a flat grind 943 , any super steel............M4 perhaps

I had the same questions as Bill. I'll will miss one or two of the ones that have been DC'd
Thanks for the info it really seems to make good sense. From what I've seen it appears that 8 out of 10 forum members prefer plain blades over combos. I figure that would translate similarly when it comes to retail sales. Making combos or serrateds more tailored to the use case seems like a great decision to me. One or two less steps in production will obviously save a few bucks. I'm all for that!
You know we love sneak peeks!
Maybe Jason can toss in some CAD drawings too. lol

Question:
Will plain edge BK coated knives continue to go the way of the dinosaur? Seems there has been a deliberate move to produce newer models with satin plain edge/SBK blades only. Please say it isn’t so... Just dependant in the specific model? Or should we expect this trend to continue?
