Yeah I have a couple 535BK-1902's myself. I'm really interested in the new CF-Elite handle material. One of the things that I didn't care for about the Grivory/FRN handles was the amount of flex. The G10 handles on the 535-1901 don't flex at all and I would think that the new CF-Elite handles would be similar. My 531s don't flex at all and are great light weight carries! I'll have to pick up a new 535BK-2 just to see, even if it ends up being a catch and release.

So do the CF-Elite scales justify the difference in retail cost between the two?

I think the DLC coating on the Ti AXIS bar is significant.

If it keeps the Ti from galling against the tang of the S30V so the action becomes grindy then I'm all for it.

From my experience DLC on stainless/carbon is excellent. DLC on Ti seems like spray paint on butter. If your substrate is ductile your coating will have issues, especially at only a few microns

The 535bk-2 blade is DLC coated the 535-1902 is creacoat . ( apologies on spelling)

Am I crazy or do I recall reading earlier that BKC changed their S30V heat treat sometime in late 2019? Bumped up the HRC a bit if i remember correctly?
I looked around a bit but cant find the thread where I thought read it...

Well - I have DOAT making me some custom bugout scales so I needed a bugout. I bought the standard blue one and now I’m thinking the dlc blade would look better so I’ve got one of these on the way too. The custom (carbon fiber with Koa inserts) will go on this one and the cf elite will move to the one with blue standoffs and thumb stud and a satin blade.

I like it but no more galling ti axis bars for me after returning my first bugout to the dealer and having to sort out the replacements galling myself. but i love my 535 1901 with the ss axis bar

I got a chance to handle both the new Bugout and the new Bailout.
I like the Bugout. The satin and gloss (Axis bar) contrast is nice.
The Bailout however was, WOW! The second it was in my hand my first thought was "940". As in the 940's younger, cuter, thinner, sister.
I'll be getting one of these.

That M4 Bailout has aluminium scales that don't feel like typical aluminium scales. Great feel to it

Sounds like I'm gonna need to get a hold of my local brick and mortar to see if they got their new Bugout models in.
