The only way to figure out if it’s fake is send it to Benchmade for a free service. They will let you know if it’s fake. Read there service section on the website.

That’s the only bad thing. I took a chance with my balisong’s which cost me allot of money but now I have a piece of mind. I understand if you don’t want to send them but I would want to know if it’s real. The knife could be worth some money because it’s so unique.

Here is a good resource for general butterfly knife info, Benchmade & more. The latch looked a bit different, but I am not an expert on them.

I took a look. The list has spring latch. The one I posted is T latch. I think the T latch is earlier version of 4x. There are so many fake 4x but not black. So, I need expert to give some advice.

See, i warned you i had no idea what i was talking about when it comes to this knife. I came across this link when trying to get some 239 info a few years back. I think i posted a link to it back then. It's a great resource

I believe this knife to be authentic. The Chinese knockoffs are for the spring latch not the T-latch. I have a 43 black, finish LIKE YOURS. I also own another 43A and four 42's, two are safequeens. Once again authentic...in my opinion and nice knife in great condition.
