Rifle Scopes
Anyone on here do any distance shooting? I'm talking 500-600 yards pluse. If so what kind of setup do you use. I'm looking at putting together my first distance platform and deliberating on what scope to buy. I'm between Schmit & Bender, Kahles, Zero Compromise and Nightforce. Most likely a 5-25. I'm leaning the most towards S&B or Zero Compromise.
Any opinions, thoughts or input?

No love for an American made Leopold?
What rifle is your scope going to be used with?

Since you mention this is your first LD platform, I'd suggest you visit sniperhide.com and look around. IMO you'd be wasting your money buying that level of scope. Learn the basic fundamentals on a mid-range scope. Spend the money on ammo and practice. There is huge skill set that goes into distance shooting. You can't make up for learning these by throwing money at equipment.
Once you have an idea of what works for you and the gun, caliber you want to use, THEN look at expensive glass. You'll be better able to utilize it features.
YMMV,

Snipershide is awesome, I've spent the past two months digging through all the info. Talk about drinking from a fire hose.
So the little bit of long range shooting I have already done has been on mid range scopes. They absolutely get the job done. Part of my thought process for this was that I would grow into the scope. Also part of the decision is the fact that I have the freedom to buy it now haha. IE no wife. So I kind of feel like if I have the means and opportunity, why not? Also. I have no objection to buying a used one off the hide. That's my primary goal.
The rifle will be a BadRock South Fork in 6.5 Creedmoor. And I really feel bad saying this, but no love for Leopold's current offerings. They are getting better though.

Tiny, So glad to hear! The majority of people buy too much scope. Bigger is better, right? Please keep us appraised of your progress.
