The laser marked patent number that used to be on most all Benchmades has been changed to Benchmade.com/pat on most recent BMKs.

    Hope this helps!

Thank you Tim for the clarification. I hadn't purchased from this particular store before and when I saw it thought I'd ask even though the knife looked and felt like a quality Benchmade, cheers.

Benchmade was not smart doing that. Neither "benchmade.com/pat" nor "benchmade.com/patent" are legitimate URLs. When I first saw that etched on a blade I was sure that it was a clone until I received several knives directly from Benchmade like that. Whoever thought of that idea and whoever approved it are NOT informed enough to be making that type of decision. </dissapointed>

You actually have to use the complete URL...

    https://www.benchmade.com/patents

This page will give you all the info you should need regarding Benchmade patents. 👍

Thank you! That is NOT intuitive. Bad idea. URLs are supposed to be literal hence the word "UNIFORM Resource Locator".

Don't get me wrong, I love Benchmade. I am an Authorized Dealer. I just want them to be perfect and lately they are far from it with several QC issues. This is just another thing they could do much better. I don't want a reason to be critical. For wanting to be the company that I know they want to be, this is NOT headed in that direction.

So looking at this site i see no notation of an 860 or 8600. Could one infer that Benchmade is not the holder of the Bedlam patent?
