I'm sure they're making a killing on them! Ordered a 943 at the normal price not to long ago and when it arrived I was so disappointed to find that it had plastic scales! 😠
Immediately informed the seller it was a counterfeit and they issued a return waybill and refund. Then after noticed that he'd put it up under a different account. SMH
Since then I was able to find a very nice real 943BK at a "Good Price" on auction.

found this one on the bay as well. the similar pics make it look like it comes from the same place as the ones above. but notice the sterile blade and the lack of anything resembling an axis lock. was also going for around $45 if i remember correctly

I'll bet that the seller Photoshopped the blade to remove the BM Butterfly logo and that if someone orders one, it would be there!

551-1 Griptilian. Seems to be a lot of counterfeits on Evilbay of late. I refuse to buy Benchmade on that site because I don't believe they are doing anything to address the problem.

I as well as other members have complained and reported counterfeits on the bay to no avail. Actually Benchmade as owner of the "name and trademarks" has to report the items and from what I've heard that's even difficult.
The recent uptick of 55x's counterfeit models on the bay is staggering. The counterfeiters are getting better making these and its getting tougher and tougher to tell them from the real McCoy's. While the bay is still good for finding rare, Gold Class, Limited Edition and Prototypes which are usually not counterfeited, your best best when buying a BMK is to buy from an Authorized Benchmade Dealer!

I feel ok about using this site as well. I feel confident that anything with photos posted in the want to sell section is safe. I imagine any listing with photos of a counterfeit knife would be called out quickly

Excellent point Tu. I trust all the regular members here and know that we all would never pass a "bad knife" here. Most have a number of documented positive transactions.
Anyone else would get a lesson in the fine art of counterfeit detection if passing a counterfeit. lol
