    I'm pretty glad there's a new Tanto blade coming from Benchmade. At least to me, this is probably their most interesting 2019 release.

    Would this be there first 3V folder? I'm definitely interested

    Technically, the 365 Outlast (yet to hit shelves) was announced first, with its fully serrated, opposing bevel blade being 3V.

    This 537 is BKC’s first release of a single bladed 3V folder however.

    The 365 Outlast that they announced earlier this year has two blades, one of which is 3V. As far as I can tell, those haven't shipped yet.

    Looks to be based on Bugout Technology with 3V Steel weighing in at 2.05oz vs the Bugout's 1.85oz.

    I'm going to wait and see if they come out with other blade styles before I hop on this bandwagon!

    Yep. Saw that. I figure that's some of that .20oz difference. the 537 doesn't appear to have full liners (I don't see how it could considering it's weight) so I'm guessing that its screwed in to the scales with the the two end screws.

    The tanto blade shape is interesting, it appears to have the hard angle on the edge, but there doesn't appear to be a different grind or a grind line going to the secondary point like most other American tanto blades do.

    If you don't understand my rambling, compare the tip of this Presidio to the tip of the Bailout above.

    Good eye.

    The Japanese call that grind line the “Yokote”.

    Thanks for that Marty, I knew it had a name, but I couldn't remember or find it for the life of me

    I like the niche Benchmade looking to fill with this new model.

    Size & weight wise it compares best  to my  favorite 940D2CF ( long discontinued) & close to the 940-1 ( width on 940-1 is .44” rather then .41”).

    Since I’ve a few 940D2CF’s & 940-1’s  I am not going to rush out for this one. Mostly it is the steel selection. I like stainless so this 3v & M4  are steels not pulling $$ out of my pocket. And I don’t like coated blades

    I know there is a price difference, that favors the Bailout but on 94X’s the blade is thicker, a tad longer & blade to handle ratio is better. I am guessing the CF is stronger than the grivory.

    Lastly looks the Bailout ain’t as sexy looking as the traditional 940, 840-1 & 940D2CF. Even the 940-2 looks better than this Bailout.

    If it is as successful as the Bugout then maybe we’ll get a version with M390 or S90v but until then I’ll bail on the Bailout as I’ve better options  in my pocket.

    I've put off buying a bugout for this long, but I think I'm going to jump on this one pretty quick. I've been having a love affair with Tanto blades recently, and I've been hearing a lot of praise for 3V lately, so this seems perfect.

    Can anyone tell me how 3V compares to D2 in edge retention and stain resistance? I know neither is stainless, but I haven't had any issue with D2 rusting in my normal use, so I'm just wondering how they compare.

    /|\ D2 is very close to a stainless.

    The 3v stronger & tougher.

    check out page 92 of your Benchmade catalogue.

    Bugout did nothing for me yet I love this new offering.  Almost like a return to the golden age of Benchmade knives.

    Not sure what's going on with smoky mountains picture and the single serration.  🤔  Any thoughts what that's for?

    Well with a droppoint I would be very interested.

    I don't think its a single serration. I'm thinking Its a sharpening choil.

    A sharpening choil is the place to start or stop your stroke when you're sharpening the blade. A way not to damage other parts of the knife like the scales.

    Note that serrated version's serrations start where the choil is on the standard non-serrated blade.

    Did i miss a listing of hardness? This steel has a wide range of toughness, from great to amazing

    Thinking Benchmade has inadvertently made the best throwing folder yet

    -S3V

    -Tanto

    -Axis

    -Lightweight

    -Smooth back

    HRC.   ft-lbs

    58    =  85

    60    =  70

    62    =  40

    Great results, but still a wide range

    Maybe it was a Photoshop mishap.  No need for two choils on the same blade.  I just thought maybe it was intentional for doing a specific application like stripping wire or something.  This is the pic I was referring to.

    Wonder if the lanyard loop is removable or if it serves as a spacer?  I'd probably go without if that was an option.

    looks like a spacer. Could probably come up with some cool aftermarket options to replace it

    You look like a spacer

    Can't wait to see what two of them duct taped to the end of a broom handle looks like..

    Who does that? And who walks around w/ two 860's..?

    A 12 yr old...with no where to go.. and nothing to do..is who does that.

    The Bailout

    Named after Benchmade's commitment to 2A and and their core customers.

    Was also the title of Les's video response
