928 frame lock?
Hello, I just picked up this knife and love it but can you adjust in any way the frame lock to where it is not so stiff and much easier to unlock? I can operate the lock with my thumb but man is it stiff and after a few times my thumb is really feeling it.
Thanks, Ben.

Ben you'll want to break-in your BM Proxy a little bit before playing the adjustment game with it. Once your thumb becomes well defined you know your ready! Just kidding.

Your Proxy's pivot and lock face can be adjusted. The Proxy uses thrust bearing washers and you should be able to adjust the pivot so that the blade swings out nicely when use the flipper. As well take a look at the lock side of the knife. If too much pressure exists not only will the blade be off center when the blade is in the closed position but it can also create more friction and thus make the Proxy harder to open. Once you get it dialed a little BM Blue Lube in the bearing area and on the tang of the blade where it meets the lock will also make it smoother.

Hope this helps!

When I had same problem I tried adjusting the lock & messed it up so badly had to send it back to Benchmade who’s experts fine tuned it. It now a safe queen

Thanks, I disassembled and tweaked
and it works much better now. I lubed it with some really good fishing reel oil I had and that helped even more but I have ordered some of the BM blue lube.
It is off center and barely touching the G10 scale when closed. Any tips to get it better centered?
Thanks, Ben.0 -
A couple things you can try...
First try looking at the knife closed from the underside to see the off center. While looking at it, tighten and loosen the pivot to see if you notice the blade centering changing. If so, Adjust to the point where the centering is good and then check the blade to see how well it's operating. Also make sure there is no side to side blade play when open. As well confirm the adjustment of the lock.
If you don't get the desired results with the above... With the knife closed loosen the frame screws (presentation side of knife) and the pivot screw. Take a smooth piece of thick paper (something that will not scratch the blade) and fold it in half. Push the folded side of the paper between the side of the blade and frame that is currently too close to the frame. This should press the blade to the opposite side frame and it should be be touching that side of the frame. Next tighten the frame screws till completely tight. Then tighten the pivot to what you remembered was about perfect. Remove the paper and check the blade operation. Also make sure there is no side to side blade play when open. As well confirm the adjustment of the lock. It may take a couple times of doing this entire operation to get it perfect.
There is another method that I can add if either of these don't work.
Give them a try and report back.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry Bill!

Ben I should have mentioned that there is always the Benchmade Warranty. You can always send it into Benchmade Customer Service to have it properly adjusted free of charge. Of course you'll be without your knife for 8 to 14 days or there abouts depending on how busy they are. You can download the warranty repair form from here. < Direct link to warranty form. Make sure to mention anything else you want or do not want taken care of on the form.

You can loosen the pivot and push the blade to what you think is the opposite side of off center against a flat surface like a table. WARNING! Do not put enough pressure to break the blade! Next tighten the pivot. If its good, you're good to go. If it's worse, do the same thing, loosen the pivot, push the blade to the other side and tighten the pivot.
If this worries you, which does many, send it into Benchmade CS asking that they fix the blade centering on the Warranty Form I linked above. Also have them take care of anything else that you are not happy with. Tell them not to sharpen the blade as it is already sharp and you don't need any metal removed from an already sharp blade.
I suggest that later!

Thanks Tim, I'll try that later today but have a question for you or whoever knows. If I decide to send the knife in can they do some custom etching on the blade for me? Quick story on this knife. My grandmother, she passed several years ago,,,,, bless her heart,,,,gave me a $200 savings bond in 1988 and I just recently found it while I was shopping for a new knife and I said hey Maw Maw Verdun is going to buy this knife and every time I use it I'll think of her .
So she had paper clipped a note to it that said "Love ya-Maw Maw" and was wondering if I could get that etched on the blade?

Ben, Yes Benchmade CS can custom Laser mark your Proxy. Here is the laser mark form. < Direct form download
This page describes Benchmade laser marking. < Direct link
You can always contact Benchmade CS at 1-833-557-2526 (Monday-Friday 8:30AM-5:00PM PST) prior to sending in a knife to confirm what can and cannot be done.
Grandmothers are precious. I miss my maternal grandmother so much as she played a huge role in who I am. I think its a wonderful idea that you have commemorating your knife to her in such a way.
