Customized for added comfort

Thought I would share how I modded  my mini grip for better pocket comfort. When I would carry mine, I would reach in my pocket I would rub my hand raw on the ribbed scales along the back near the tail.  I used some emery cloth to sand them off so my hand had a smooth surface to rub against.   I don’t have a pic of the finished product but I included a pic of the ribs for reference.

  Yup... I did the same thing within an hour of opening mine.  I ended up sanding the edges of all the ribs along the outside edge.  I also slide some sand paper between the clip and the scales to keep it from ripping up my pants and took down the left hand clip area.  

  The nice thing about so many people getting custom scales for their griptilians is that you can modify your stock version and then easily pick up a factory set from someone else for pretty cheap.

  Great idea sanding under the clip!

  my knife was stolen on a fishing trip some years ago and I just reorderd me a new last month. I had them put the custom g10 scales with horizontal ribs. I’m hoping it won’t have the same issue as before. Still waiting on my new one, was stolen off my porch after ups dropped off. Damn porch pirates!  UPS is will report it to Benchmade next Tuesday and hopefully have a new one on the way. 

  I have some panzerholz wood I might try to machine myself a set of scales from. It’s basically a phenolic impregnated beech plywood. Super hard material but easily machinable
