Benchmade exclusives no more?
Hello folks i just got word from Knifeworks website store that they sold out of the 940-1501 and it is now discontinued. upon further questioning customer support for knifeworks has informed me that Benchmade is no longer going to produce exclusives for dealers and what ever stock they have it is all they got. any thoughts or information about this on this forum?

I don’t see this happening.
Customers want them and dealers do as well.
BKC wants revenue.
Don’t believe everything they say.

Even then you may have to call twice.
Everything can change.

No certainly not.
A few times over the years I’ve called and got one answer and called again and got another.
Now I ask for my most favorite knowledgeable customer service employee to find out what’s up.

Well I feel old because my memory sucks and I can't find the mention of that topic in the history. Typically haven't been interested in the newer offerings anyway so that's partly why it's fuzzy. I'd be on it like flies on shit though if another AFCK offering was made available! 😆

knife works expressly said that all of their benchmade exclusives that they have now are discontinued and any that they have on the website are only what stock they have left. they also said benchmade is pulling dealer exclusives from other dealers not just them.

there has been talk of benchmade introducing the 940 to their custom shop and if that is the case than we may see some exclusives go away so that it creates a market ready for the custom shop. with as much of a hit the 1501 KW exclusive was benchmade may want a piece of the custom knives pie. think about how many of us want a knife that is uniquely us. and think about how much money benchmade loses out on when we customize a knife with aftermarket scales or hardware. scales and hardware that is not benchmade’s. i predict a 940 custom shop option coming very soon.

There's been no official decision to eliminate exclusives from our product lines. Individual SKUs are evaluated based on multiple factors, however, and are subject to discontinuation, same as any other knife model.

Thanks Jason!

That's good to know and I think it clarifies Benchmade's stance regarding the OP's posted topic statement.

Anybody know what is the minimum for the Dealer Exclusive order?

When I was involved in a dealer exclusive discussion two years the dealer was told by a BM employee in front of me that they needed at least 1,000 pieces to start on an exclusive.
That number definitely varied over the years.

Chip that 1,000 sounds credible, but I’m guessing for an international dealer the quantity maybe be less as BKC tries to expand the market base. The Aries -1501 was a run of 250.
Anyone know the # of red handles 531 just released?

The Red 531-1901 had a release of 300.

Well, it appears to be true. As per 4 well known web/brick and morter outlets. Am I wrong?
