/|\ Most of us here Agree black blades look sexy new but unless hard used to get lot of scratches  they don’t look so great.

As to hard wear (screws) most of my EDC’s have black screws & have not worn badly over the years ( BKC will send new screws if you ask nicely, with exception of female portion of pivot).

Your custom mini-CR looks nice as is. Only thing I’d do, if my knife, is change out solicit screws for black on the black G10. I like low profile not flash or glitz.

Beauty! I really prefer stone washed natural blades. With the amazing steels they are using today (M390, 20CV), I would really rather see the steel.

I kind of like this pic. Really love the knife. It carries so well, I can’t feel it in my pocket at all.

Nice looking knife!  I was torn between this one and the mini grip with g10. I went with the mini grip only because I use to own one, but was stolen. I had the black clip and yes it did start wearing  the black off after some time.  I ordered all silver satin this time.

It not a matter of want I think looks better silver or black clips.

I use black clips on near all my knives because there lower profile when clipped to jeans than high polished stainless steel.

I agree with Bill on hardware wize, black coating is subdued. But, it is unavoidable to get scuffed on clip.  Also blade is meant to cut, so it too can get scratched one of the days.

I carry Benchmade as a tool 98% of the time. I prefer stainless steel rather than black most of the time.

/|\  Yes black clips & stainless non-coated blades. I swapped out the clip on my  810-1401.  Not that the original stainless clip didn’t look good but with dark handle the black clip blends in & then doesn’t draw looks like a stainless clip does.

I emailed them and they declined. I only need the two screws but it’s ok. I’ll sharpie them if it gets annoying. They offered to change them out if I send it to them but it’s not that big a deal.

/|\ Jason, has BKC changed policy on replacement parts? My understanding was if  you didn’t need to disassemble BKC would Mail the part ( basically clips & screws)

    Appreciate your insight. Thanks

I had to clarify that the two black screws were actually the standard screws for the knife. Now they are going to send them. Thanks everyone.

    Benchmade is an awesome company.

I have never noted a lot of wear on black pivot screws. Just checked my 810 I have had a few years and the pivot looks pretty clean. I will add that I don't carry anything in the pocket with the knife normally.

My Crooked River is the G-10 production with the black pivot and orange spacer, I will admit it really set the knife off.

You could always just build and order a new one.

Usually we'll send you replacement screws, but not customize the knife for you.  Custom knives are kind of a grey area.  Customer Service will always do the best they can to take care of you if they can.

    That makes sense. Thank you.
