    Yeah that will never happen.

They have made some nice knives that are similar/better and if you were BM savvy you might get that instead of a Grip.

Or even some of the amazing high end Grips.

    In the mean time. . . . .

Then why would BM dealers start marking them down? "[The 551/556-1] was recently discontinued for 2019" -latest knivesshipfree email.

benchmade is upgrading the steel on the base model grips from 154cm to s30v. as far as i’ve heard there’s no change on the -1 grips tho

The only thing I can think of is that the saber ground 551/556-1s are being discontinued in favor of the ffg that the regular grips will be adopting in addition to their steel upgrade.

Heard a rumor that the Griptilian line is being discontinued.... (youtube knife review channel) Anyone else aware of this or can confirm/deny?

As mentioned above, there is a steel upgrade for the entire Grip line. A customer would now expect to receive his Grip in S30V. The part numbers have changed to either a "-1" or "-S30V". Therefore the old part numbers are discontinued and superseded by the new numbers. I'm guessing (it's what we do in my industry) that BMK is allowing sales below MAP on the 154CM models so that dealers can sell out existing inventory.

    Pretty much spot on.
