I was going to do it at one time, but by the time I got an auto my Bone collector scales were on an M4 blade, so I never did try it. But anyway, I don't think it will work. The 520/5000 scales have a cutout inside for the spring, and if I remember correctly, the Bone Collector scales don't have it.

It probably would be a fairly simple modification to make it work, but I don't think it would be a direct fit.

A simple cutout would not be an issue, all other tab a fitting into slot a, so to speak.

I don't have an auto anymore, so I can't look and it's been awhile since I had one apart, so I could be wrong, but I'm not sure that would be a problem.

If I remember right, the spring mechanism is pretty much self contained, so you would basically just need to make room for it behind the scale.

. So, has anyone here tried this FrankenSidio idea before?

No ....if I dont like the scales of a knife , I just have Keyman or Deathofallthings make me new ones. They do excellent work

That's what I would do if I didn't already have Bone Collector scales on my 520.

I just took a look under my bone collector scales and there is definitely no cut out for a spring. If the 5000 is the same as my 14905, which I think it is, the cut-outs wouldn't have to be too exact to work, the notches don't really matter as far as I can tell as long as there's enough space for everything, but the depth would need to be pretty close.

I'd like to see some g10 scales on an auto presidio. that would be interesting.

So, you are asking if it would work to take a 5200 and swap on the 15200 Bone Collector scales?

    Sure, that would work fine.

Just use the liners and internals from the 5200, and swap on the Bone Collector scales. The Bone Collector back spacer might raise an issue though, as I believe the back spacer needs to have features to accommodate the spring for the safety. But if you were happy with the 5200 back spacer with the Bone Collector scales, easy-peasy!

That is close or maybe just what I am thinking, yes. I want to start with the M4 Presidio, the G10 Bone Collector and an Auto Presidio. The one for sure knife I want to end up with would be an Automatic Presidio with M4 blade and G10 scales. And hopefully two other working knives with the leftover parts. I have large and small M4 Presidio and G10 Bone Collector. So I need to do some trading for Autos or just be happy with M4 and G10.

Oooh, that raises another Presidio question. Are the internals (for the Auto part at least) of the Presidio and the Presidio Ultra the same / interchangeable? If I wind up springing for a new Auto, the Ultra might be cheaper.

    98% sure they are.

I didn't realize you wanted to put an M4 blade into the auto... I'm almost certain that won't work.

I wish I still had a 5000 so I could look, but if I remember correctly, the internals are pretty much the same design as my 14905 which has a cutout in the blade for the spring, and a 520 blade does not have that.

Oh I see. G10 I can cut. I had forgotten how BM seats the spring on the blade. Bummer. So no Auto FrankenSidio.
