Benchmade 87 Genuine or clone

Could I ask for the members & moderators help please. My recent visit to the factory & my concerns over direct import to UK  prevented me from purchasing an “87”

Need ( want) is strong such that I found a stockist in France named “Couteux center” in France to supply me in Europe.

upon opening the package, it all seems good. However, the blade finish, primary grinds & sharpening aren’t too good imho.

These knives are not hanging around in Europe like Xmas decorations on trees. They are hard to find with suppliers only in France & Italy. And they are like 540 Euros 😳

If it’s genuine but wonky blade & sharpening, I’ll live with it, but if I’ve bought a clone, I’m going to be pretty pissed.

  I’d also appreciate knowing if the manufacturing date incorporates the manufacturing changes spoken of ( assuming its genuine )

  /|\ Darren, If it was my 87, I’d pm Jedi and ask for help. Jedi knows as much or more than anyone when it comes to the 87. All the best.

  Looks legit to me.  I'm not seeing anything funky with the blade grinds either.  Looks exactly like the one I got from BM.

  There are fake 87’s & they look to be scarily good. A Chinese wholesaler had a batch of them. Many of these had ended up on a french resale site. I’m preaching to the converted when I say I’m very anti to counterfeit branded anything. Cheap knife copies that are branded, are there to deceive & can fail prematurely or catastrophically. When paying $600 for a knife that you’ll never sell, I’m not too proud to ask experienced enthusiasts their opinions.👍

  I found the Chinese fakes you mentioned.  First I've seen of them.  Comparing your knife to the clone I'm seeing some differences so I still think you're good to go.  Benchmade prohibits us from talking about the differences on the forum.  They also changed their policy recently and staff will no longer comment on the forum regarding authenticity based on photos.
