Random Lone Wolf Pics
Every other forum seems to have one of these threads, so why not one for Lone Wolf???
I've recently added a few to the collection, so I figured should share them here
This one is not my usual fare, but had a yen for something a bit more 'traditional'...

I like these a lot. Thanks Joe K. for bringing these back to my attention.

Good idea! here's my contribution - Lone Wolf US45

I really like the look of that wood handled Blackfoot.
I've often wondered why more makers haven't checkered their wood handles...0 -
Agreed on the Blackfoot. I got the G10 model, but would have been very happy with the wood version. VeryNiceKnives. 0 -
Thanks to Joe I get to partake in this thread.
My first Lone Wolf knife matter a fact. Thanks Joe !

How do you like it Glenn?
I am not a fan of lockbacks by any means, so am rather curious...0 -

Observations. The lock-back really snaps in with authority. There is absolutely no blade play in any direction. It's VERY sharp, the grind reminds me of a Scandi grind.
The handle material in injected plastic of a sort . feels like it would be resistant to wear, time will tell. It does have a bit of a hollow feeling to it when you handle it, other then that I really like this knife. I will give it some pocket time and touch bases back.
It seems like it is well worth the market value and is well made with concerns to fit and finish.0 -
Glenn, what steel do they use on those? I kind of like the orange handle. 0 -

I was unsure as the blade is not marked. I did a quick google search this is what I came up with:
Specifications
Overall Length: 8.05"
Blade Length: 3.50"
Blade Material: N680 (Super Stainless)
Lock: Lock Back
Closed Length: 4.75"
Handle Material: 3D Topo Orange FRN
Clip: Stainless Steel
Weight: 3.20 oz.
Country of Origin: USA
EDIT TO ADD.
I really like that it's slim, and light. Easy carry knife, don't even know it's there. (for better or worse)0 -
I sure didn't know anything about N680, but here's what the Benchmade site had to say about it:
N680: A chromium-molybdenum conventionally produced stainless steel with the addition of vanadium and nitrogen. Excellent corrosion resistance properties, especially in salt water. Good hardenability and high obtainable hardness. High wear resistance and ability to preserve keenness.
Please let us know how you like the steel.0 -
Added a couple more to the collection while I was down South a few weeks back. Actually surprised how big and solid they are.

Nice pair you got there. Nice photos too.

Thanks
Down side is that is making want to look for a set of pre-BM's...

Nice! I think I need more Lone Wolf knives... 0 -
It makes me very happy to have the originals of those two knives pictured. They both, (Longhorn/Blackfoot), appeared within a week of each other and are the better knives. These don't come up very often; if they do I would snap them up. 0 -

Yeah, I know. I certainly haven't seen them on the market often, not that I've gone looking either though...
But yes, I certainly will grab them if I do happen to come across them0 -
Joe & Lightning...you guys are getting a lot of Benchmades in your knife lists. I was surprised that my two favorite knives didn't make either list...the M4 806 and the M4 710. 0 -
Off topic, I did own an M4 710, FJ, the '801 went to DJ, I think...SO many trades with that character I can't keep track. On an M4 806, I'd love to own a satin M390 instead. Maybe the cousin of the Lone Wolf Knife fairy is listening...
Are ya up there?

Sorry, I guess I was day-dreaming and got off topic. I like the looks of those two Lone Wolf's above (whether you'd call them Wolves in this context would be a good question for Grammer Girl).
I think the addition of a few more wood handled knives could be fun for the BKC line or any of their family of companies.0 -
Indeed, I love the traditional look and feel of wood handles. ALways welcome in my book.
And the 710, while is an excellent knife, it's simply not one of my favorites. Not sure what it is, just doesn't seem to be my cup of tea. I'll see better once I get a different set of scales on it...
As for the 806, the donut blade really turns me off.
Now the 805, that is a different matter entirely. It's only a matter of time (and deciding which one) before one shows up on my doorstep and starts me down that road...0 -
That's interesting. I'm sure we all have our own tastes in knives, vehicles, food, women, guns....everything, if you think about it. Otherwise, they could have made one model of each and quit.
I was just surprised that out of the hundreds of Benchmades that have crossed my desk, you guys don't seem too excited about the two I narrowed down as my personal favorites.0 -
That's very true FJ, variety is the spice of life after all.
Not that I don't like the 710. I've got one and do use it occasionally, and would buy another if the right one crossed my path...
Please do tell, what are your favorite 2? I'm sure you've mentioned it already, but my memory is failing me.0 -
Lightning asked..."Please do tell, what are your favorite 2?"
From page 2, above...I was surprised that my two favorite knives didn't make either list...the M4 806 and the M4 710.
Sorry, I'm not good with remembering the full model numbers, but I think the M4 710 is the 710-801.
