Class Warfare!!!
Just pondering somethings to chew the fat over, and I was thinking... Benchmade has there "classes" which have been around for awhile. Which one do you find you buy most of your knives from? Which one is your favorite. I will toss the old Red Class in here, wonder how many votes that will get...

It is a toss up for me... Blue or Black? I tend to be drawn to "tactical" stuff, but I had to give my vote to the good old Blue Class...
Never had a Gold Class knife, and doubt I ever will. I have spent money on knives before, cost is not really the issue. I am not a pure collector so it is not my cup of tea. I do take that back, I might get an unlimited Gold Class if it something I like.
Ah, the good old Red Class... Gotta admit I had a bunch of Red Class knives in my day. That's all I am going to say about that.0 -

Before this poll gets going too far, can we add the HUNT lineup?
I know it’s kind of an extension of the Blue Class, but still...
Its it’s own thing, if you ask me.0 -

I agree... With my large collection, I have a lot of each class (even GOLD), but in the spirit of the poll, I have more BLUE class than any other. I have most of the HUNT series, and none of the RED.0 -
For me it would be a toss up between Blue-Class and Pre-Class.
I also have a few Vapor-Class. The ones that if you are not at the right place at the right time, they are gone like a vapor.0 -
It's a pretty even split for me between the blue and black classes with a slight edge to the blue class. 0 -
I seem to have a high number of Presidio, Rift, Contego and folding and fixed Adamas. Weren't 805 and 806 Black Class as well?
Yeah, I gotta go Black.0 -

Yeah, I gotta go Black.
My 805 came in a blue box. Was this before the 'class' thing?0 -
For a long while, I thought myself a Black Class guy.
But at the end of the day, I gotta give it up to the Blue Class.

This survey actually make me to think about knifes.
Do I have OCD?
Do I have any kind of mental disease?
When will I stop buying?
When will I stop liking(loving) knifes?
I bought so many knifes and I can only carry one and some of them I will not carry it at all because I don't want to have scratches on them.
What am I going to do with those knifes?
If I die, Where those knifes gonna go?
Any thoughts?0 -

I think we all ask ourselves some similar questions from time to time...
I personally have fallen face first into the cold hard fact that I just don’t get true enjoyment out of a knife unless I carry and use it, so if I happen to buy a knife that goes unused for too long, it moves on.
Also, I’m reminded of the “What will happen to your Benchmade collection when you die?” thread from a while back...

As long as we keep buying knives, we will never die.
Being a knife nut doesn't mean you have a mental disorder, but it does mean you are a little odd.

That was really interesting post.
I have tried to keep all the information and price in a folder so whoever(my daughter) gets them will know the value of them.

The original version came out before the classes...
Not sure if it carried over since the AFCK was black when it left us.

Honest answers...
There are times I feel that knife buying was a bit an obsessive activity. It was more the process of buying and waiting for a knife to arrive, that was all the fun. That stopped for me when knives got more and more expensive.
Buying knives as an investment is risky. It is a short game. Keeping knives long term as an investment has significant risks. Why? Take Gerber for example, at one time Gerber knives were consider the best in the business (prior to mid-90's) and collector interest was high. They were bought out by Fiskars and gutted. Today they are mostly considered junk and to any 30 year old knife collector, who is going to shell out knives with a worthless name? So imagine Benchmade being bought by another company who wants to race to the bottom... In time the collector interest for older quality knives will be zero. Will your Benchmade collection be worth anything in 40 years? Who knows... If you are buying to make money then play the short game.
What happens to your knives when you die? A few go for heirlooms to family and the rest are sold at a garage sale.
Myself, I have gotten to the point that I don't care for any knife that is going to sit un-carried or used. If a knife does not get carried or has no sentimental value, then it is up to be sold.
At one time, I had a collection of hundreds of Benchmade knives... I now have maybe two dozen. There are a few I miss, but for the most part I am cool with it. I went from buying a hundred knives a year to maybe 6 Benchmades a year, and that is generous. I am cool with this.
To get back on topic, most of them are Blue Class...
