My Favorite knife??? Seriously?
SO, my 12 year old son, who is seriously catching the Benchmade bug just like I have, asked me, "Hey Dad? What is your favorite Benchmade knife that you own?" I told him that asking such a question was like asking a parent which is their favorite child! He kind of looked at me strangely and walked away..
Well, I was right, wasn't I? Do any of you have a favorite BMK?

I love most of my knives equally but... My 950BK-1 is just amazing. I might like it just a bit more than the rest 0 -

I carry mostly an 812 and 940 , however I really like the 484-1.

I've actually never carried that one...it would be like carrying a Gold Class. I wouldn't want to mess it up.
Now if you are just talking "Which user do I grab first?", it's usually any of six 710's or six M4 Grips. I also throw in the occasional AFCK or 940.0 -
Yes, it is a nearly impossible question to answer. In fact, I've already posted this reply about four or five different ways.
But you know what...I'm 99% certain it is this:

I have one of those. The blade steel is fantastic. I wish I could come up with a way to rough-up that blue & black G-10 handle though so it wouldn't be quite so slippery on cold days. I actually had to move my 806-1101 blade over into one of the newest stock black G-10 slab handles just to help with the hand traction.quote:Originally posted by Po:

In a roughed-up canvas Micarta handle it would be an unstoppable knife.0 -
The 806-1101 is a bit of a gentleman's AFCK, I suppose. You know what though, nothing Keyman couldn't fix to ultimate extent with some of that extreme traction Micarta he uses. Wow, would that be a hard core user, especially in BK.
The AFCK though, with the relatively thin tip, and big ol' hole in the blade is not that strong a blade really. Mebbe best suited for big gentleman's utility knife. The TSEKs are stronger blades, huh?0 -
Thinking which BM I'd would never want to give up or lose is 940D2CF (it is why I've several safe queens) so I can enjoy carrying the one EDC when I switch off with 940-1 or 941D2CF or 940S with CF REI special.
Wish they made one reduced in size to 75%, as want a sub-3" knife I am as crazy about as I am with the 94x model. Always got to have something to look forward to.0 -
Tough call. I have affinity toward AXIS locked current production with super stainless.
Over all? 806. Currently too up between 810-1401, 551+2-1401, and 808BK.. Yes, 950-1401 was close.0 -
My "favorite" is the most recent knife that I have purchased. Then it is which one I decide to carry at the time, or it could bet that I really can't answer this question.

It's taken me a while to get to this point, but for me it's a de-assisted 581.
Started off with M390 710, 806, 730.... 710 is great overall but the handle ergonomics are just good IMO. 806 is larger than I really like to carry day-to-day. 730 is amazing, love the handle, looks great, but I don't care for the saber grind compared to something closer to full flat.
581 has a nice full handle, high flat grind that cuts great with a little swedge for some good looks, G10 + alu scales look great with the contrast and feel solid in hand... just can't beat that for me.0 -
Gonna have to be my 551 grip, S30V blade, G10 handles. Though my 940-1 and 162 are dearly loved, this is by far my most used and coveted.

My favorite Benchmade is always the one I'm going to buy next. There's the arrival, the unboxing, and then the honeymoon. Some time later reality sets in and maybe it's not my favorite. Maybe it's good enough to be a keeper. Sometimes I've really missed the mark and the catch is released. Then the cycle repeats. 0 -
I guess, if I had to think which one would I feel worse about losing, it would be the 950....though that 757 is climbing the ladder.

Yep, my Fav is my 805-1101 with the 806-1101 scales. Definitely the last one I'd let go of.

For years it was between the 710 & 940. Then more specifically the 940-121 (For the M4 upgrade).
Then the 810 busted onto the scene and the rest was history. My current favorite is the -1401 (hard to guess that one)
Every other folder fell by the wayside.. Short term excitement followed by me finding design flaws with them.0 -
