BK Coating/Engraving (on L.E.s) Question

More specifically, to my eyes (using a jeweler's visor), the engraved script (e.g. "Limited Edition XX/XXX") on some knives looks to be almost screen-printed w/a reflective silver, rather than actually engraved, as is easily visible on the uncoated blades, and even they almost look to be ink-filled/highlighted (or could be burn residue from the laser?).

So, on the BK L.E.s, what is the process BM uses to do the script?

  Examples:
  
  Obviously engraved, but is the dark area a result of the laser or is it printed in some fashion?
  
  
  
  Not obviously engraved. It appears printed. What process does BM use to do this?

  The process is done through a laser marker. We calibrate the settings between coated and non-coated blades.

  Howdy,
  
  All of our LE markings are done on the same lasers as the standard production lasermarks.
  
  Varying intensity, power and time can produce a remarkably wide range of different marks.

  I forget what limited model it was (73x or 806/805), but the engraving was very light. I liked it very much. I like to call it "Ghost Engraving". I would like to see more like that.

  It was the black G-10. M390 Ares from a few years ago. May have been a Knifeworks exclusive.
